Job Summary and Responsibilities
4th Floor Medical Surgical
The 4th Floor Medical Surgical unit at St. Anthony Hospital, an achieved Magnet® hospital, is a medical/surgical telemetry unit of 36 beds and is primarily a telemetry unit with medical/surgical overflow. Our typical patient population includes heart failure, pre and post-cardiac catheterization, abnormal arrhythmias, vascular surgery, TAVRs, ablations, and other cardiac patients. Our mission is to provide the highest level of quality, patient-centered, and safe care to all patients who come through our doors while also creating an atmosphere that is fun, exciting, and engaging to work in. We foster a positive team environment through regular team-building activities, celebrate successes with monthly recognition events, and encourage professional growth through continuing education opportunities.
Working on the 4th floor of the hospital provides nurses with an environment that is team-focused, supportive, and adaptable to the changes in healthcare. As an Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) you will be responsible for developing, achieving and maintaining the goals of a unit or department by focusing on the unit or department’s daily operations.Essential functions to the success of this role include:
- Consistently promote a positive & healthy work environment by being visible and available to all levels of staff and customers.
- Collaboratively work with nurse leaders in maintaining productivity, supporting initiatives, and ensuring units/departments are appropriately staffed.
- Assist in identifying staff development needs with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education.
- Daily productivity and expense management and support unit/department manager with budget preparation.
- Focus on patient safety, patient experience, and performance improvement in alignment with unit/department goals.
- Encourage employee participation in decision through shared governance and support change management.
- Support professional development to improve employee retention.
Job Requirements
In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified Assistant Nurse Manager candidates will need the following:
- 2 years clinical RN experience
- 6 months - 1 year clinical leadership experience, preferred
- A degree in nursing (BSN or MSN)
- Current RN License to practice in state of employment
- Life Support Certifications per Department Standards; e.g. NRP, EFM, TNCC, etc.
- Nursing Specialty Certification:
- Required to sit for certification within 6 months of hire/transfer
- Must achieve certification within 2 years of hire/transfer into this role
Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

Located in Lakewood, Colorado, St. Anthony Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center where we provide a full range of medical specialties and health care services to Denver and the surrounding region through our state-of-the-art medical campus and home base for Flight For Life® Colorado. With four trauma rooms including the T-10 room, a dedicated field-to-surgery suite ready 24/7 for trauma surgeons and specially trained teams, our staff can provide life-saving care to the most severely ill and injured patients.
