Overview
As a Snowmaking Supervisor, you will oversee all aspects of snowmaking during your designated shift. You will be responsible for accomplishing department nightly objectives, continual training, and organizing and motivating staff at different skill levels. This is a very complex position and requires intense commitment and a diverse skill set. This is a full-time seasonal winter position.
Schedule availability: 6:45 AM-7 PM (day) or 6:45 PM-7 AM (grave). Overtime required. Hours are weather dependent.
Responsibilities
- All responsibilities of a Level 3 Snowmaker
- Work with staff to plan and coordinate activities, check work and resolve problems
- Check past, current and future snowmaking trails to ensure goals are met
- Charge, maintain, and blowdown snowmaking systems
- Fulfill day to day work responsibilities for the organization as needed and exhibit the highest level of expertise in all areas
- Check equipment and buildings to ensure all are in compliance with company safety and department standards
- Operate snowmobiles, UTVs and other equipment safely and efficiently
- Set examples and reinforce positive motivation for the team
- Build an intimate knowledge of Sunday River’s snowmaking system to include valving, all snow gun types, discharges, charging procedures, pumps, and compressors
- Offer continual training and assistance to Level 1, Level 2, & Level 3 Snowmakers
- Must be able to understand the operation of pumps, compressors, and how water and air moves across the mountain
- Be willing to help in other departments during peak periods
- Complete other duties as assigned by management or supervisor with a positive attitude
Qualifications
- 3+ years of snowmaking experience (Preferred)
- Summer snowmaking expansion experience
- Snowcat/heavy machinery experience (Preferred)
- Able to handle and manage confidential information
- Comfortable challenging policies and procedures, but once established, is supportive of those rules
- Flexible with hours and days of work
- Organized with tasks and see projects through to completion
- Familiar with snowmaking pumps and compressors and willing to build their knowledge whenever and opportunity arises
- Knowledge of temperature fluctuation, weather, and tother atmospheric conditions’ effect on snowmaking, and the ability to adjust quickly to those changing environments
