Talladega Surgery is a growing surgical practice committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care. We are seeking a detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant with strong medical knowledge and a passion for supporting both patients and providers in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.
Position Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant will perform patient care duties under the direction of the physician or Advanced Practice Provider in an outpatient surgical environment. This role requires solid knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and surgeries , along with exceptional attention to detail.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians and providers during examinations and surgical procedures
- Prepare patients for exams and procedures
- Collect and document patient histories, vitals, and clinical data
- Administer routine treatments and approved medications per provider direction
- Enter medication, lab, and diagnostic orders into the electronic medical record
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with clinical policies
- Coordinate scheduling for specialty testing and consultations
- Communicate professionally with patients, families, and practice staff
- Adhere to infection control, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support front office functions as needed (scheduling, patient flow, discharge)
Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or at least 1 year of verifiable Medical Assistant experience
- 1–3 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of:
- Medical terminology
- Clinical procedures and surgeries
- Ambulatory or surgical practice workflows
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based, fast-paced environment
Licensure & Certification
- Active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent national MA certification (AAMA, NHA, AMT, NCCT, etc.)
- Current BLS (CPR) certification
