Industrial Hygienist (Asbestos/Mold/Lead)
Job description
NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist (Industrial Hygienist) to join our Kennesaw, GA office. This position will support a diverse set of projects focused on indoor air quality (IAQ) assessments, environmental investigations, and hazardous materials consulting, including asbestos, mold, and lead-based paint.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform indoor air quality (IAQ) assessments and investigations for commercial, industrial, and institutional clients
- Conduct asbestos, mold, and lead-based paint inspections, sampling, and assessments
- Complete air monitoring, exposure assessments, and industrial hygiene evaluations
- Perform Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and support Phase II subsurface investigations
- Conduct soil and groundwater sampling and assist with environmental data interpretation
- Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, and regulatory documentation
- Interface directly with clients to communicate findings and recommendations
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulatory requirements
- Support proposal development and contribute to business growth efforts
- Mentor junior staff as needed and provide technical guidance
Required Qualifications
•
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or related field
•
Hands-on experience with: Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) investigations (Mold, asbestos, and lead-based paint assessments)
•
Strong understanding of field sampling techniques and environmental data collection
•
Excellent technical writing and communication skills
•
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification highly preferred
- The following certifications are also preferred: Asbestos Inspector/Management Planner, Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor, Mold Inspector, OSHA HAZWOPER, and NIOSH 582
- Experience with Phase I & II ESAs, soil and groundwater sampling, air sampling and exposure monitoring
- Familiarity with ASTM standards, OSHA regulations, and EPA guidelines
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CHMM, or related credentials
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Combination of field and office work, with frequent site visits
- Ability to work in varied environmental conditions, including heat, humidity, and confined spaces
- Occasional lifting and handling of field equipment
- Potential exposure to airborne particulates or hazardous materials in controlled environments
