Summary

A pharmacy technician trainee is a student employed by the center while enrolled in a pharmacy technician training program approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy for the purposes of obtaining practical training to become a registered pharmacy technician. A pharmacy technician trainee performs pharmacy tasks and duties as delegated by a licensed pharmacist that do not fall within the purview of Florida Statue 465.003(13). All such delegated acts will be performed under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist as outlined in Florida Statue 465.014. These supervised tasks and duties include but are not limited to: initiating or receiving communications with patient provider team members to facilitate patient care for: refill authorization requests, assisting in patient appointment review, medical records review, insurance authorization review, processing of prescriptions, including investigational medications utilized in clinical trials in compliance with policies and procedures set forth by the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines. Registered Pharmacy technician may also perform assistance in the compounding, preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical and investigational preparations following USP standards and hospital policy, inventory stewardship, keeping records and making reports required by law, and processing of documents required by the hospital. The Oncology Pharmacy Technician trainee is co-enrolled in a employer sponsored training program as outlined in FL Rule 64B16-26.351 as a condition of his/her employment, and is eligible to convert to Oncology Pharmacy Technician upon successful completion of the program and registration as a pharmacy technician with the board of pharmacy. Successful completion of the program includes a minimum of 160 hours of training, completion of all self-directed learning experiences with a passing score on didactic assessments, and exemplary performance assessments. The pharmacy technician trainee must complete all requirements within six months of enrollment/employment.

Minimum Required: • At least six months healthcare/service/hospitality related experience.  • High School Diploma/GED. • Not currently enrolled in, or have completed another pharmacy training program

 

Salary Range

$16.50 - $24.04

Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role. Actual compensation may vary based on location and a variety of job-related factors, including experience, skills, education, and internal equity among Team Members in similar positions.
