Job Description – AE&I Technician
Job Summary
The AEI Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing electrical systems, instrumentation, and automation controls within a soybean processing facility. This role ensures reliable operation of equipment critical to production, safety, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including motors, drives, panels, and power distribution.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical components.
- Ensure compliance with NEC and facility safety standards.
Automation
- Troubleshoot and program PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
- Maintain and optimize HMI systems and SCADA interfaces.
- Support integration of new automation systems and upgrades.
Instrumentation
- Calibrate and maintain sensors, transmitters, flow meters, temperature probes, and pressure
gauges.
- Diagnose and repair instrumentation issues affecting process control.
- Document calibration records and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or Automation
(or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in industrial electrical and control systems, preferably in food or agricultural
processing.
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, P&IDs, and ladder logic.
- Familiarity with safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), arc flash, and confined space
entry.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with soybean or grain processing equipment (e.g., extruders, dryers, centrifuges).
- Knowledge of industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
- CMMS experience (e.g., SAP, Maximo).
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Work Environment
- Industrial plant setting with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Rotating shifts or on-call availability may be required.
