JOB TITLE: Wildlife Technician

DEPARTMENT: Hualapai Department of Natural Resources

CLASS: Full Time/Covered/Non-Exempt

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

The Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks technician will assist the Program Manager and Assistant Program Manager in completing the scope of work of the BIA P.L. 93-638 Contract. The Technician will assist with coordinating and implementing ongoing research, annual threatened/endangered vegetation, wildlife surveys, fisheries surveys, and water resource management. They will assist with research projects, initiate predator control, reservation hunts, and measure harvested game.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Possess a strong ability to read and follow directions with minimal supervision.
  • Must be dependable, responsible, and willing to learn.
  • Must be able to travel for extended periods of time, up to 20 days, on the Colorado River.
  • Must be able to work under adverse conditions.
  • Must enjoy working in the outdoors: Camping, hiking, etc.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent physical condition: able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of fisheries and wildlife management
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalent
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License and eligible for the Tribe’s insurance
  • Must be willing to learn how to operate heavy equipment
  • Must be willing to learn how to use a computer
  • Submit to and pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings
