Expected salary range of $192,600 to $214,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Under minimal supervision, plans and executes legal oversight of the Company’s Responsible AI program, including development, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise AI policies, standards, and controls.

Provides thought leadership and project leadership on AI governance initiatives, including participation in enterprise Responsible AI committees and cross-functional working groups.

Conducts legal review and risk assessment of AI use cases, including evaluating data sources, model behavior, outputs, and intended business applications; partners with technical, cybersecurity, privacy, and business stakeholders.

Provides strategic legal advice on the development, procurement, and deployment of AI and generative AI tools, with a focus on legal and regulatory compliance, data protection, intellectual property, and risk mitigation, including review and negotiation of AI vendor contracts.

Monitors and interprets emerging AI legal and regulatory requirements, translating them into actionable internal governance frameworks, controls, and guidance.

Drafts and maintains AI governance documentation and delivers training and guidance across the organization, while supporting cross-functional AI governance initiatives and issue escalation as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8-years professional experience in a specialized area of law
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing and to analyze legal materials and data
  • Excellent legal research, analytical abilities, and knowledge of federal and or state law
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of legal principles, practices, and procedures, with the ability to apply them to complex assignments
  • An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions
  • Demonstrated experience in technology, data privacy, cyber security, intellectual property, litigation, or regulatory compliance.
  • Direct experience supporting AI governance, Responsible AI programs, or technology risk management frameworks.
  • Foundational knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data-driven technologies sufficient to assess legal risk (technical background not required.)
  • Familiarity with generative AI tools, large language models, and associated legal risks (e.g., hallucinations, bias, data exposure, privacy, antitrust, intellectual property, etc.).
  • Experience designing or implementing governance frameworks, including risk tiering, use case intake/review processes, and control structures.
  • Background of working closely with cybersecurity, data science, or IT teams in a highly regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of emerging AI regulatory regimes (e.g., EU AI Act, Colorado AI Act) and industry standards (e.g., NIST AI Risk Management Framework).
  • Prior in-house experience or demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
  • Ability to distill complex technical concepts into simple, explainable ideas. Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional initiatives and ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority. Certifications in AI Governance or Privacy (e.g., IAPP Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP) and/or Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) or comparable certifications and experience)
