Role Summary and Impact
We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Account Manager to join our team, taking the lead on a varied, high-profile portfolio of transport, energy, and alcohol brands.
As our new Account Manager, you will be right at the centre of our client relationships and campaign delivery. This is a critical role responsible for supporting day-to-day account management, media strategy coordination, and the flawless execution of campaign activity.
You won’t just be managing spreadsheets; you will act as the key connector between our clients and our internal channel specialists (including PPC, paid social, programmatic, and creative teams) to ensure integrated, insight-led media delivery. Operating in our supportive, collaborative environment, you’ll have the opportunity to build deep client-facing relationships, manage end-to-end campaigns, and mentor junior team members (such as Account Executives) to help them grow.
The Clients
You will be managing an exciting, diverse portfolio of household names and industry leaders:
- National Express: The UK's leading coach travel provider, synonymous with reliable, affordable, and sustainable long-distance travel. You will support the delivery of high-impact brand and performance media campaigns that drive ticket bookings, brand trust, and passenger growth nationwide.
- Energy Networks Association (ENA): The voice of the networks, representing the builders and operators of the UK’s energy infrastructure. You will work on vital public-facing campaigns—including the crucial “Moving the Grid Forward” campaign—to help educate and engage the public on the transition to a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable energy grid.
- Westons Cider: An iconic FMCG heritage brand producing authentic, premium draft and bottled ciders (including Henry Westons). You will adapt our media strategies to capture the competitive consumer retail landscape, driving modern brand love for a classic favourite.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead the charge in coordinating our media strategy, driving campaign success, and keeping our operations running seamlessly. Your core responsibilities include:
- Media Strategy & Audience Planning
- Audience Building:Specify how to build and target audiences across both addressable (digital, social, programmatic) and non-addressable media. Validate targeting approaches to ensure we can reach defined audiences at the scale required.
- Connections Planning:Help design and outline the strategic connections ecosystem, defining exactly how, where, and when we will connect with our target audiences in media.
- Integrated Briefing:Collaborate closely with internal channel specialists to translate client briefs into cohesive, multi-platform media plans.
- Client & Campaign Management
- Day-to-Day Liaison:Act as the trusted primary contact for client marketing teams, managing regular status meetings, responding to briefs, and providing clear, consistent communication.
- Campaign Delivery:Oversee campaign setup, trafficking, and launch phases, working in partnership with specialists to ensure campaigns go live accurately and on schedule.
- Performance & Insights:Review performance data and campaign reports, drawing clear insights to discuss optimisation strategies and budget adjustments directly with clients.
- Financial & Operational Excellence
- Slick Operations:Manage media bookings, oversee client billing, and ensure precise financial reconciliation of campaign spend across our booking systems.
- Process Leadership:Keep everyone connected by maintaining structured internal working processes with our media owners, internal specialists, and creative partners.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Lead by Example:Champion a collaborative, inclusive working environment. Actively support and mentor junior team members, helping them develop their skills and build confidence.
Skills and Experience
At WPP Media, we believe in the power of our culture and our people. It’s what elevates us to deliver exceptional experiences for both our clients and each other. In this role it will be critical to embrace WPP & WPP Media’s shared core values:
- Be Extraordinary by leading collectively to inspire transformational creativity.
- Create an Open Environment by balancing people and client experiences by cultivating trust.
- Lead Optimistically by championing growth and development to mobilize the enterprise.
- Agency Experience: Proven experience working in a media or digital agency environment (typically as a seasoned Account Executive looking to step up, or an established Account Manager).
- Media Channel Breadth: A strong understanding of the media landscape (spanning both brand-building and performance-driven campaigns) and the roles different channels play within a communications strategy.
- Audience Planning & Insight: Familiarity with audience planning and insight tools, with the ability to translate data into actionable media recommendations.
- Communication & Presence: Strong written and verbal communication skills. You are comfortable and confident presenting ideas with passion and conviction to clients and senior leadership.
- Detail & Accuracy: Excellent attention to detail, strong financial numeracy, and a dedication to delivering high-quality work to tight deadlines.
- Tools: Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint) and Google Workspace. Experience with media booking tools like Adazzle or DDS is a major plus, though not necessary.
