Job description

Role Description FocusEconomics is a leading provider of economic intelligence, forecasts, and data solutions used by senior executives across multinational corporations and government organizations. We are looking for a Sales Intern to join our Sales team and support our commercial team at the front of the sales funnel.

As a Sales Intern, you sit at the start of our sales cycle in a calling role at the front of the funnel . Your core deliverable is clear and central: reach out to unqualified leads by phone and LinkedIn, qualify them against our ideal client profile (ICP), and hand the ones with real potential to our Account Executives (AEs) . Around that, you will research prospects, build target lists, keep Salesforce accurate, and support AEs through the rest of the cycle. It is a high-volume, objective-driven role where resilience, organization, and drive matter more than prior experience.

You will gain hands-on exposure to real B2B sales processes and tools, lead generation, qualification, account management, and CRM operations.

We see this position as a starting point toward a career within the company, so it is ideal for students in their final year of university who are motivated to launch a career in B2B sales, client relations, and commercial operations.

Important: You must be eligible to undertake an internship in Spain.

Responsibilities Lead Generation & Qualification (the core of the role)

  • Call unqualified leads directly to open conversations, assess fit, and qualify them against our ideal client profile (ICP).
  • Pass only qualified, high-potential leads to Account Executives. Qualification is the deliverable, not a byproduct of outreach.
  • Research and identify new prospect accounts and key contacts aligned with our ICP.
  • Build and refine targeted account and contact lists for outbound campaigns.
  • Engage prospects through phone and LinkedIn to generate interest and create opportunities.

Salesforce & Data Discipline

  • Log every interaction in Salesforce as it happens . Every call attempt, connect, qualification outcome, and status so the pipeline reflects reality in real time.
  • Keep accounts, contacts, activities, and opportunities accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain CRM hygiene by reviewing, cleaning, and updating records regularly.

Account Management Support

  • Support Account Executives with follow-ups and flag any renewal or upsell signals you come across while working your leads.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and spoken English; additional languages are a strong plus.
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree (business, economics, marketing, communications, humanities, or related).
  • Comfortable working without direct supervision and taking ownership of daily targets.
  • Handles rejection well — this is a high-volume, low-hit-rate calling role.
  • Objective- and goal-driven, with a strong drive to hit and beat targets.
  • Attentive to detail and organized enough to log every interaction properly in Salesforce.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to spot business opportunities against target criteria.
  • Minimum availability of 3 months and at least 20 hours per week.

Our Offer

  • Real responsibility from day one, with direct visibility into the deals you help generate.
  • International, collaborative, and friendly work environment.
  • Central, well-connected office in sunny Barcelona (metro Girona and Tetuan).
  • 40 working hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 9am and 6pm.
  • Hybrid work model based in Barcelona.
  • Paid internship: 720 euros per month (net), plus bonus scheme.
  • A genuine path to a long-term career within FocusEconomics
