What You'll Do
- Perform advanced electrical maintenance and repair work to maintain the safe operation and service life of hospital facilities, utilities, and infrastructure.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial electrical distribution systems and related equipment.
- Maintain and service switchgear, motor control centers, emergency generators, transfer switches, and other critical electrical systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic equipment, including A/C equipment and associated controls.
- Apply life safety, electrical, and building codes to ensure compliance and safe operations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, technical manuals, and service documentation.
- Utilize electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools to evaluate system performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on electrical equipment, systems, and devices throughout the facility.
- Respond to urgent facility needs and participate in on-call rotations as required.
- Assist with emergency response activities, including facility evacuation and firefighting support when necessary.
- Support a safe work environment while working around electrical hazards, hazardous materials, infectious diseases, severe weather conditions, and other environmental risks common to healthcare facilities.
- Operate company vehicles as needed to perform assigned duties.
What We're Looking For
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two-year vocational, technical, or trade education in an electrical field required, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A three-year electrical apprenticeship program may be accepted in lieu of technical/trade education.
Experience
- Minimum of five years of experience in commercial electrical distribution system installation and maintenance required.
- Equivalent experience in a related field combined with a three-year electrical apprenticeship may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare facility experience highly preferred.
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment operation and repair.
- Proficiency with personal computers and common PC software applications.
Licensure
- A city/county journeyman's card and/or an electrician's license from state of employment, required.
- Valid NC Drivers License
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, pull, bend, stretch, and perform medium to heavy physical work.
- Ability to kneel for extended periods.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Manual dexterity required to safely operate tools and equipment.
- Ability to hear and recognize changes in equipment and machine operation.
- Ability to work in noisy, fast-paced, and occasionally stressful environments.
- Ability to work extended shifts when needed.
