Chief Operating Officer – Alternative Investments – Client Role
Job description
Responsibilities
- Partner with the CEO to execute the firm's long-term operational strategy and organizational objectives.
- Design and implement scalable governance frameworks, operating models, and decision-making processes.
- Build and enhance operational infrastructure across investment operations, finance, technology, investor operations, compliance, and corporate functions.
- Drive firmwide process improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to automate workflows, improve efficiency, and reduce operational risk.
- Develop policies, procedures, and operating standards that promote accountability, consistency, and operational excellence.
- Evaluate and oversee technology platforms supporting investment management, CRM, reporting, document management, and business operations.
- Establish key performance metrics and management reporting to support strategic decision-making.
- Manage critical vendor relationships and oversee third-party operational service providers.
- Ensure the firm's operating platform is positioned to support future fund launches, new investment strategies, and continued business growth.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on execution, continuous improvement, and organizational scalability.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience
- 12+ years of leadership experience within investment management, hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, or institutional asset management.
- Previous experience as a Chief Operating Officer, Head of Operations, Chief of Staff, or similar senior operational leadership role preferred.
- Demonstrated success building and scaling operational infrastructure within a growing investment organization.
- Strong understanding of investment operations, fund administration, portfolio management systems, CRM platforms, operational technology, and governance best practices.
- Experience designing scalable business processes, organizational structures, and operating frameworks.
- Familiarity with SEC-registered investment advisers and the regulatory environment supporting alternative investment managers.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives involving operations, finance, technology, legal, compliance, and investment teams.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
