Job Overview
The PBM Project Manager is responsible for managing both benefit plan implementations and broader project management initiatives across the organization. This role leads projects end-to-end—from initiation through closure—ensuring successful delivery of client-facing implementations as well as internal, operational, and technology-driven initiatives. The Project Manager is accountable for overall project success, including timeline adherence, stakeholder alignment, and delivery of expected business outcomes. For implementation efforts, this role serves as the primary client-facing lead and is responsible for successful go-live and operational readiness. Project assignments may include client implementations, internal operational initiatives, technology delivery (e.g., platform enhancements), and enterprise programs.
Responsibilities
- Project Management (All Projects) - Manage projects through the full project lifecycle (initiation, planning, execution, and closure) - Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations - Execute projects to deliver defined scope on time and within budget - Promote alignment across stakeholders through clear communication of timelines, milestones, and deliverables - Lead work breakdown structure development and project planning sessions - Identify, manage, and mitigate risks, issues, and changes across scope, schedule, cost, and quality - Monitor project performance and provide regular status reporting to stakeholders - Resolve project barriers and escalate issues as needed to ensure progress and delivery - Facilitate cross-functional coordination across business, IT, vendors, and operational teams - Ensure adherence to Enterprise Project Lifecycle (EPLC) standards and project management best practices - Mentor and support development of project management resources
- Implementation Management (Client / Benefit Plan Delivery) - Lead end-to-end benefit plan implementations from initiation through go-live and stabilization - Maintain accountability for implementation success, including milestone achievement, client readiness, and go-live outcomes - Serve as the primary client-facing implementation lead and central point of contact throughout the implementation lifecycle - Manage client expectations and ensure alignment on deliverables, timelines, and readiness - Coordinate across PBM operations, IT, and vendor partners to execute implementation activities - Proactively identify, escalate, and resolve implementation risks and issues
- Agile Delivery & Scrum Leadership (As Applicable) - Support Agile project delivery practices across implementation and non-implementation projects, as appropriate - Serve as Scrum Master for assigned workstreams or projects - Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement - Manage and prioritize project backlogs in collaboration with business and technical stakeholders - Promote team accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement
- Stakeholder & Client Engagement - Act as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, including clients for implementations and internal partners for enterprise initiatives - Communicate project status, risks, and outcomes clearly and effectively - Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across cross-functional teams - Ensure a high level of stakeholder and client satisfaction through effective delivery and communication
Required Qualifications
- B.S./B.A. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2 years Project management experience across large, cross-functional projects
- 2 years Experience in Pharmacy Benefit Management or healthcare industry
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Preferred Qualifications
- B.S./B.A. Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, pharmacy, or related field
- Experience leading both implementation and non-implementation projects
- Demonstrated accountability for project delivery including implementation and go-live outcomes
- Experience in agile environments, including Scrum Master responsibilities
- Experience facilitating agile ceremonies (spring planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives)
- Ability to exercise independent judgement and manage competing priorities
- Experience interfacing with senior and executive leadership
- Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and resolve conflict
- Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational change management and problem-solving capabilities
- PMP Certification

Compensation Disclaimer
The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical.
