ALC Sheetmetal Instructor - 3rd shift
Job description
Overview The Operations Training Department at Electric Boat Quonset Point is seeking qualified Sheetmetal Instructors to join our team on 3rd shift. This position plays a critical role in the development of our workforce and the continued success of submarine construction efforts. Position Responsibilities: The selected candidate will: Manage the daily activities of multiple students and provide clear direction and technical assistance. Ensure students understand the material taught and are well prepared to execute tasks on the deck plate. Oversee hands-on work to ensure it is conducted safely, driving a culture of first-time quality and safe work habits. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning among students. Ensure assigned documents and training tasks meet schedule requirements in a timely manner. Ensure safety requirements and procedures are followed by all personnel. Promote a positive and collaborative team environment and effectively engage with all levels of staff, management, and students. Additional Duties: Support Operations Managers and the Training Department to ensure training remains relevant and current. Collaborate with Design/Build teams to identify and develop new critical skills to support emerging technologies. Work with PD and Sheetmetal supervision to identify and justify new equipment needs. Identify, plan, and execute Sheetmetal Active Learning Centers to support growth and proficiency demands at Quonset Point. Qualifications Required: High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in the sheetmetal discipline. Preferred: Prior teaching experience Minimum of 3 years of Electric Boat experience Certificate, Associates or advanced degree Experience with AWPSS, EWP and ECLAD Skills Ability to quickly learn and adapt in a dynamic environment. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with all levels of the organization. Exceptional organizational and facilitation skills. Strong time management and task prioritization abilities. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and modular outfitting. Proven track record in safety, quality, and schedule adherence. Strong leadership, interpersonal, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a team committed to the growth and advancement of trade skills. Ability to quickly learn and adapt in a dynamic environment. Strong working knowledge of submarine construction and mechanical component installation. Strong computer skills required, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Project. Knowledge of EB policies and procedures Physical Qualifications Climbing, Color Vision, Crawling, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, Twisting Environmental Attributes Inside, Noise Ability to quickly learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
