Job Description: PeriAnesthesia Nurse (Pre/Intra/Post-Procedure Care) Location: Non - OR Anesthesia Nursing Team, University Hospital Hours: Monday – Friday, 0700-1900 (No weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements) Position Overview: We are seeking compassionate and skilled Peri- Anesthesia Nurses to join our dynamic team providing exceptional care for ambulatory and inpatients in the Pre-Intra-Post Procedure phases for both pediatric and adult patients. This position is specifically based in Non - OR locations, including University Hospital Radiology and Brachytherapy at the Cancer Center, where patients undergo various procedures, treatments, and imaging that require anesthesia . The role involves working with a high volume of pediatric patients, approximately 75% of the caseload, in addition to adult patients. Key Responsibilities:

• Pre-Procedure Care:
• Assess patients before anesthesia for procedures, treatments, and imaging.
• Collect relevant patient history, review medications, allergies, and vital signs.
• Educate patients and families regarding anesthesia procedures, expectations, and recovery.
• Ensure appropriate preparation for anesthesia administration, including pre-anesthetic medications when applicable.
• Intra-Procedure Care:
• Work collaboratively with anesthesiologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Post-Procedure Care:
• Monitor and assess patients during recovery from anesthesia , ensuring safe and effective transition to post-procedure recovery.
• Manage pain and complications post-procedure, providing necessary interventions.
• Provide discharge instructions and ensure patients and families understand the aftercare process.

Patient Population

• Pediatric patients (approximately 75%) and adult patients undergoing anesthesia for procedures, treatments, and imaging.
• Provide age-appropriate care tailored to the specific needs of pediatric and adult populations. Schedule:
• Full-time position with service hours from Monday to Friday, 0700-1900.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.

Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.

Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The pay range for this role is $39.90 - $53.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
