Join us as a Unit Clerk and assist stakeholders (e.g., other DDS employees, SSA, and medical vendors) with medical appointments necessary for determination of Social Security Disability benefits.

Office Location: This position is assigned to our office located at 84th & O St, Lincoln, NE.

Pay Grade 3: $19.939/hour

This rate is based upon available budget funds; any offer will be made at this rate.

Essential Functions

Scheduling

  • Schedules consultative examinations (CEs) for claimants applying for disability, provides reminders of appointments to claimants, and verifies attendance to CE appointments.
  • Processes CE authorizations, claimant correspondence, and travel payment documents.
  • Provides accurate information for authorizations and details related to appointments.

Accounting

  • Processes daily deposits, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payment vouchers, medical evidence, and bill resolution and reconciliation.
  • Assists with the vendor payment process and audits and audit issues.
  • Sorts, completes, reviews, and files invoices.
  • Revises, edits, disburses payments, and verifies all accounts payables.
  • Assigns and maintains vendor files by issuing identification numbers and collecting vendor information such as vendor number, address, federal tax number, etc.
  • Verifies provider and claimant mileage reimbursement and provides reimbursement payments. Reviews and posts employee expense reimbursement documents, vendor invoices, and contract payments.

Scanning

  • Downloads incoming medical records and transcribed reports and reviews for errors or omissions.
  • Scans and transfers reports and records into electronic folders and the Disability Case Processing System (DCPS).
  • Sends reports to medical providers for review and signature. Tracks unreturned reports and contacts providers for follow-up.
  • Maintains records, logs, queues, and files relating to reports, documents, and medical licenses.
  • Maintains regular & reliable attendance, travels independently, and works in a variety of settings.

Working Conditions and Travel:

This position requires approximately 100% of work time spent in an office environment. There is no expected overnight travel.

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience related to the essential functions of the position. Any equivalent education and/or work experience may be substituted in order to meet the minimum qualifications of the position.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with confidential information and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
