JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES
As a state of Ohio licensed Stationary Steam Engineer, this position is responsible for processes associated with the plant including high-pressure boiler and steam turbine operations and steam system water testing. The Stationary Steam Engineer is responsible for the environmental sound operations and maintenance of all plant processing equipment. Team members in this position are required to learn and maintain knowledge of the process, hazards associated with the process, and have the ability to execute standard operating procedures.
Continuous plant operation requires 12-hour shift work. Team member must be able to adapt to 12-hour workdays and be able to meet call-in requirements as needed.
This is an on-site role located in Fostoria, OH. Responsibilities include:
Learn, maintain and operate all processes associated with the plant including high-pressure boiler and steam turbine operations.
Responsible for steam system water quality testing and ability to make adjustments to ensure necessary quality is maintained.
Responsible for performing repairs and maintenance of plant equipment and documentation of activities.
Assist with removing, installing, rebuilding, welding, torching, lubricating and cleaning of all equipment associated with the Biorefining processes.
Maintain all biorefinery equipment including, but not limited to: centrifuges, pumps, motors, gearboxes minor electrical systems, PLC’s, heat exchangers, compressors, grain handling equipment and fans or blowers.
Operate equipment including, but not limited to: telehandler, skid steers, tractors, ATV’s pay loaders and fork lifts.
Learn and operate DCS (Distributed Control System) for the plant.
Utilize the DCS and collected data to optimize plant operations and/or troubleshoot issues.
Perform quality control tests on product streams and make necessary adjustments.
Learn and perform basic electrical troubleshooting.
Follow procedures for plant start-up, shut-down, cleaning and batching.
Maintain accurate and timely communication tools (logs, One-note).
Remove, install, rebuild, lubricate and clean all equipment associated with plant processes.
Utilization of Maximo for tracking of parts inventory and maintenance activities.
Perform preventative maintenance tasks and inspections as directed.
Maintain a clean facility and follow the sanitation schedule completing all tasks as assigned.
Responsible for notifying management team of safety, environmental, quality and production concerns, problems and opportunities.
Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community.
Maintain and advance the food safety and quality of POET’s products and processes to deliver a best-in-class culture of quality.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Active Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer license as required by the plant where team member is located.
One year steam plant operating experience required, 2 years preferred.
Experience in a production environment preferred.
Two years of experience with fabrication, welding, torching, cutting, gearbox repair, pump alignment, boiler and turbine operations and water chemistry, material handling systems, preventative maintenance, instrument and electrical work preferred.
Working knowledge in math, reading comprehension and mechanical reasoning required. Reviewed: March 2018
Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills are required.
You have the ability to understand technical and day to day operations of a bioprocessing facility.
Knowledge of the basics of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability of learning new programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role has some physical requirements that our team members will need to be able to perform, such as:
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, self-contained breathing system, hazardous material suit, hearing protection, and harness.
Working at extreme heights (approximately 150 ft), in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees Fahrenheit, both indoors and outdoors.
Be able to use the following equipment/tools, with training provided (not all encompassing): various hand tools, skid loader, scoop shovels, pipe wrenches, impact wrench, air hose, and shuttle wagon. Must also be able to operate machinery such as a payloader and Trackmobile for long periods of time

Be in awkward back, shoulder, wrists, and hand positions
Bend forward while standing
Reach overhead
Pull up to 40lbs
Kneel and crouch for up to 15 minutes at a time
Occasionally:
Pull up to 95lbs, with or without assistance

Pinch with a force of 20lbs

Due to the physical and safety-sensitive nature of this job, you will be subject to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre-screen process. During employment, you’ll be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
