JOB OVERVIEW Profession: Physician Specialty: Emergency Medicine Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Lafayette, Indiana Facility: Franciscan Health Lafayette East Health System: SCP Health - Locums Coverage Period: Oct 01, 2026 – Ongoing Reason for Coverage: Coverage Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered PATIENT INFORMATION Average Daily Volume: Approximately 137 patients per day (50,000 visits annually) Case Mix: High-acuity emergency medicine; trauma, cardiac, ENT, orthopedics, GYN FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 33-bed ED, 3 trauma bays Trauma Level: Level III Trauma Center EMR System: Epic Specialty Backup Available: Comprehensive inpatient and specialty backup Support Staff Available: Scribes, APPs, nursing staff REQUIRED PROCEDURES Intubation and airway management Central line placement Chest tube insertion Laceration repair Fracture reduction and splinting Procedural sedation Full-scope emergency medicine procedures JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: BC/BE in Emergency Medicine Licenses: Active Indiana medical license (or willingness to obtain) DEA / CDS: Active DEA with Indiana address (or willingness to obtain) Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS Experience: Experience in high-acuity emergency medicine preferred Other Qualifications: MD or DO from accredited medical school; residency trained in Emergency Medicine; comfort practicing in a trauma-designated ED DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients of all ages Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and emergent conditions Perform full-scope emergency medicine procedures Collaborate with APPs, nursing staff, and specialists to ensure efficient patient flow Ensure timely documentation and adherence to quality and safety metrics
