JOB OVERVIEW Profession: Physician Specialty: Emergency Medicine Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Shreveport, Louisiana Facility: Willis-Knighton Medical Center Health System: SCP Health - Locums Coverage Period: Mar 01, 2026 – Ongoing Shift Schedule: Varied shifts (40.71-hour daily physician coverage) Reason for Coverage: Coverage Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered PATIENT INFORMATION Average Daily Volume: 126 patients per day (46,000 annual ED visits) Case Mix: Consistent with Emergency Medicine FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 576 hospital beds (total facility) Specialty Backup Available: Full specialty backup available (tertiary care, cancer center, heart & vascular, transplant) Support Staff Available: NP/PA coverage (12 hours/day), scribe coverage (37 hours/day) PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes (cross credentialing at multiple facilities) JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: BC/BE in Emergency Medicine (ABEM required) Licenses: Active Louisiana Medical License (clean), CDS, DEA with LA address DEA / CDS: Active DEA with LA address, CDS required Certifications: ACLS, ALS required; PALS required if not board certified in EM Experience: Residency trained in Emergency Medicine; CME and case logs from past 2 years Other Qualifications: Accepting IMLC and pending DEA; ECFMG if foreign medical graduate; TB results, flu vaccine, health attestation; Interview with Medical Director DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide emergent and urgent medical care to patients of all ages Oversee and collaborate with advanced practice providers and support staff Complete accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and consultations as needed Participate in quality improvement and maintain required certifications
