JOB OVERVIEW Profession: Physician Specialty: Emergency Medicine Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Abbeville, Louisiana Facility: Abbeville General Hospital Health System: SCP Health - Locums Coverage Period: Jun 01, 2026 – Ongoing Shift Schedule: Days and Nights, 6a-6p / 6p-6a Hours Per Shift: 12 Number of Positions: 2 Reason for Coverage: Full Time Vacancy Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered PATIENT INFORMATION Average Daily Volume: 45 patients per day Case Mix: General emergency medicine FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 7 ED beds, 3 fast track beds Trauma Level: N/A EMR System: Cerner Community Works Specialty Backup Available: Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Oncology, Podiatry, Surgery Support Staff Available: 24-hour physician coverage, 12-hour NP/PA coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Credentialing Timeline: 60 days Temporary Privileges Available: Yes REQUIRED PROCEDURES Intubation Central line placement Moderate sedation Management of acute medical and traumatic emergencies JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: BC in EM, FM, or IM with EM experience (ABEM preferred) Licenses: Active Louisiana medical license, active LA DEA and CDS DEA / CDS: Active DEA and CDS with Louisiana address Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, PALS (unless ABEM-certified) Experience: Residency trained in EM, FM, or IM Other Qualifications: CME and case logs from past 2 years required for credentialing DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide emergent and urgent medical care to patients presenting to the emergency department Perform emergency procedures including intubation, central line placement, and moderate sedation Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers (NP/PA) during shifts Coordinate with backup specialists in cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology, podiatry, and surgery as needed Document patient care accurately in Cerner Community Works EMR
