Job description

About Perceptyx

At Perceptyx, we’re on a mission to help organizations turn employee insights into measurable impact. Our AI-enabled employee experience platform leverages the science of listening, behavioral nudges, and predictive analytics to help clients elevate engagement, retention, and performance. We’re a team of innovators fueled by purpose, collaboration, and excellence — and we’re looking for someone who wants to play at the highest level as we expand our new Toronto team.

The Role

We are looking for platform engineers to build the infrastructure platform that powers our mission of transforming how organizations understand and improve the Employee Experience. Join us as one of the founding members of our new Toronto team.

We are hiring across a range of experience levels, from intermediate to senior. What everyone in this role shares is a desire to design the self-service tooling and "paved roads" that other teams come to depend on, setting the standards and making whole categories of manual work disappear. You will help evolve our infrastructure into a resilient, dependable platform that lets our engineering teams ship builds and deployments faster, with greater consistency and confidence.

What You’ll Do

  • Build the Platform Foundation: Build and extend our platform by modernizing legacy infrastructure toward a secure-and-stable-by-default architecture, bringing configuration under Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and closing observability gaps.
  • Enable Self-Service: Design pre-approved templates, automated rails, and hard-stop guardrails that allow product engineers to independently provision, deploy, and operate production environments safely.
  • Integrate AI & Automation: Leverage AI and agentic tooling to remove manual work and automate workflows while maintaining strong guardrails, human validation, and automated rollback capabilities.
  • End-to-End Ownership: Own and operate the systems you develop following a "you build it, you run it" model. Engage in production support, maintain operational runbooks, and participate in on-call rotations.
  • Collaborative Workflows: Partner closely with application and product engineering teams to streamline deployment processes and optimize their overall developer experience.
  • Shape the Team's Culture: Establish modern architectural practices and engineering standards. Treat every recurring incident as a prompt for learning, and view internal tooling as a product with real consumer users.
  • Mentorship: Actively share knowledge and document golden-path frameworks to lift the skill level of engineers around you.

What You Bring

  • Platform Experience: Strong background building and operating production infrastructure, platform engineering, or SRE environments that engineering teams rely on (minimum 2–3+ years of experience, calibrated to level).
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure technologies such as Terraform, AWS, and Kubernetes , alongside observability tools (e.g., Datadog, CloudWatch).
  • Coding & Scripting: Solid coding skills in Python, Go, Bash, or a similar language.
  • Automation Mindset: A proactive, "toil-elimination" drive to remove entire categories of repetitive manual work rather than simply performing tasks faster.
  • AI Fluency & Curiosity: A persistent curiosity and desire to experiment with AI/agentic tooling, backed by a nuanced understanding of your role as the human-in-the-loop.
  • Modernization Instinct: A natural habit of leaving systems more stable and secure than you found them, treating security as an essential pillar of platform reliability.
  • Education: Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

Bonus Points

  • A track record of successfully defining "golden paths" or platform patterns that other teams have adopted.
  • Experience with policy-as-code or building the governance layer for AI agents in production (permissions, quotas, evaluation).
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or helping evolve an engineering function from a reactive support model into a platform organization.

Our Interview Process & AI Transparency

At Perceptyx, we value your time and want our interviewers to be fully engaged in the conversation.

  • Note-Taking: We use Metaview.ai to record and summarize our interviews. This allows our hiring team to focus on you rather than typing notes, ensuring a fairer and more accurate evaluation of your experience.
  • AI Disclosure: While we use AI to assist in summarizing interview data, all final hiring decisions are made by Perceptyx employees. We do not use automated tools as the sole basis for selecting or rejecting candidates.
  • Your Choice (Opt-Out): Participation in recorded interviews is voluntary. If you prefer not to have your interview recorded via Metaview, please notify your recruiter prior to the start of the session. Opting out will not negatively impact your candidacy.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $130,000-$150,000 CAD per year

  • Note: We are hiring across a range of experience levels and will calibrate final scope, title, and compensation accordingly.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance; RRSP matching; generous PTO and paid holidays; parental leave; and professional development budget.
