IT System Administrator
Job description
Our System Admins install, configure, and maintain IT Operations–supported applications and application servers. Performs software installations, upgrades, and maintenance of application environments in accordance with IT policies and procedures. Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimal performance, ensures availability and reliability of supported platforms, and resolves technical issues. This role focuses on application administration with exposure to databases and opportunities to grow into broader software and system engineering disciplines.
Location: this position is based in a hybrid work environment (combination of onsite work at the Meridian, Idaho campus and work-from-home)
Required Education (must meet one of the following):
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or closely related field of study or equivalent work experience (in lieu of degree, two years’ relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college)
Applicable certification(s) +2 years additional experience
Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or closely related field of study + 2 years additional experience
Required Experience: 1-3/+ years IT experience, to include
Application administration and system architecture knowledge
Basic database knowledge (SQL or similar)
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with ability to learn new technologies
Effective communication and documentation skills
Preference for IT applications support experience at enterprise-level in healthcare-related environment
Your day may look like:
Installs, configures, and maintains enterprise application software and application servers
Performs software installations, upgrades, and patching of application environments
Monitors system performance and tunes systems for optimal performance and reliability
Troubleshoots and resolves application and system issues
Supports IT Operations application portfolio
Develops and maintains technical documentation
Performs testing, validation, and release support
Works with vendors to resolve issues and drive improvements
Supports implementation of functional requirements and enhancements
Maintains awareness of application architecture
Data and Database Support:
Performs basic database querying and data validation
Assists with data migrations and integrations
Operational Support:
Participates in incident, change, and problem management
Collaborates with cross-functional teams
Contributes to process improvement and automation
As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range is $66,353 to $92,894 as Administrator I; $78,064 to $117,095 as Administrator II. The position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus (variable depending on company and employee performance). The pay range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, travel requirements, internal equity, business or organizational needs, and alignment with market data. At Blue Cross of Idaho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for the position. Compensation decisions are dependent on factors and circumstances at the time of offer.
