Senior DevOps Engineer - Edge Platform

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with a strong developer mindset to design, build, and operate a large-scale Edge Device Management Platform on ZEDEDA in the automotive domain.

The ideal candidate brings platform engineering and software development skills able to operate production infrastructure today while contributing to the design and implementation of the next-generation Edge platform.

This is a hands on senior role requiring strong technical expertise, ownership, and a proactive mindset in a scaled agile (SAFe) environment.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop, automate, and operate the full lifecycle of edge devices at scale, from OS provisioning and device onboarding through runtime management, application delivery, and Day 2 operations.

• Design and build reusable infrastructure automation: IaC modules, provisioning pipelines, and operator tooling that multiple teams and hundreds of production devices depend on.

• Implement and evolve secure edge connectivity: firewall automation, VPN management and secrets management across a distributed fleet.

• Build and operate containerized runtimes on edge hardware including lightweight Kubernetes and Docker Compose, ensuring reliability under intermittent connectivity conditions.

• Drive CI/CD and GitOps improvements: work toward zero-touch Day 1 provisioning and automated, low-downtime Day 2 operations.

• Evaluate and shape the next-generation platform architecture including container-native runtimes, open-source firewall solutions, GitOps-driven config management, and reduced vendor coupling.

• Collaborate & Support within cross-functional teams in a SAFe environment and promote documentation and self-service practices.

Required Skills

• Strong DevOps Engineering expertise with a developer mindset, able to design, code, and ship production-quality platform tooling, not just operate existing tools.

• Proficiency in at least one backend language: Go (particularly valuable) or Python.

• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes (k3s or similar), CI/CD pipelines and Terraform (IaC).

• Good knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VPN, routing, NAT, and firewall concepts.

• Good understanding of security fundamentals: PKI/TLS, secrets management, certificate lifecycle, and edge hardening.

• Solid Linux skills at an advanced level.

• Experience working in Scrum or SAFe environments.

• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Good to Have

• Experience with edge computing or IoT device management platforms (ZEDEDA EVE-OS).

• Experience with open-source firewall solutions (OPNsense) configuration and automation.
