Job description

See yourself in our team:

CommBank’s Capital Structuring business is looking for a Director Trade Product Management to join our Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) business.

The role reports to the Executive Director, Trade Product and will help shape the future of our Trade Finance portfolio — driving product development, pricing, distribution and management that delivers strong customer, commercial and risk outcomes.

You'll bring sharp product expertise, analytical horsepower and delivery focus to help drive strategy, lift financial performance, streamline processes and elevate the client experience within a well-governed risk framework.

Do work that matters:

As the Director for Trade Product, you will help deliver and support the leadership team in executing product strategy, delivering and implementing product, process and project initiatives for Trade Finance, and maintaining effective
product governance.

You'll play a key role in shaping the future of our Trade Finance product suite by managing and monitoring Trade product performance, customer outcomes and experience — tracking the results of newly introduced or enhanced products and recommending changes to features, pricing and marketing approaches to drive stronger results.

You'll contribute to strategy, business cases and investment planning across our Trade Finance products, while driving the design and delivery of new features, promotional activity and process improvements that lift the customer experience end to end. You'll also champion a strong risk and control environment across product governance, issue resolution and continuous improvement, partnering closely with frontline, Digital, Compliance, Technology and Finance to deliver strategic initiatives and resolve issues across the product value chain.

Further responsibilities will include:

  • Product governance: Support the operating effectiveness of trade products within the Trade Finance business, including product standards, pricing governance, management of risk issues, L2/L3 assurance reviews and product documentation.
  • Product profitability: Work in partnership with key stakeholders across IB&M and Business Bank to support product revenues and risk adjusted returns, optimise end to end cost to serve, maintain market competitive pricing and improve capital efficiency across the trade product suite.
  • Product development: Support the development and implementation of new trade products that enable growth and meet the needs of the IB&M and BB client base
  • Product risk management: Help ensure product specific processes and controls are designed effectively and appropriately mitigate risks inherent across trade products
  • Process streamlining end to end: Contribute to client journey mapping and sales cycle analysis across the product suite to identify break points and support delivery of an improved product proposition and client experience.
  • Translate strategic objectives shaped at management level into tactical product level plans, with mechanisms to track key milestones.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory changes that may impact trade products and support appropriate steps to maintain compliance.
  • Effective communication and understanding of product related changes across the end-to-end business, with change projects delivered in line with bank standards.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Trade Finance Product Manager managing trade finance products within a leading bank to deliver strong client, business and risk outcomes
  • Contribute to Trade Finance product strategy and support growth in product profitability
  • Assist the product management team to deliver strong client, business and risk outcomes across the product life cycle
  • Apply well developed analytical skills across the end-to-end trade business, including downstream booking and risk systems
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, leadership and communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively across the organisation and support alignment with key business and product outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to product innovation, supporting initiatives, managing change, thinking laterally and delivering commercial outcomes across the product management lifecycle
