Superior Skilled Trades is seeking an Equipment Manager II for an immediate start!

Pay: $50–$53/hour Start Date: ASAP Duration: Temp - 8-month contract Shift: Office Hours (Target 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, flexible) | 40+ hours weekly Location: Kent, WA 98032

Summary

The Equipment Coordinator is responsible for the management, tracking, and maintenance readiness of calibrated and general-use equipment across the Kent manufacturing and engineering facility. This role ensures that all equipment is properly tagged, inventoried, organized, inspected, and calibrated in accordance with Blue Origin quality standards and applicable regulatory requirements. The Equipment Coordinator partners closely with manufacturing engineers, quality assurance, and lab operations personnel to minimize equipment downtime and maintain full traceability of the equipment fleet.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of all calibrated equipment, tools, and measurement devices, including tagging, labeling, and database entry in applicable asset management systems (e.g., Maximo)
  • Track calibration due dates and coordinate scheduling with internal calibration teams or approved external vendors to ensure no equipment is used out-of-calibration
  • Perform incoming and outgoing equipment inspections; identify and quarantine damaged, expired, or out-of-calibration items and initiate appropriate disposition or repair actions
  • Organize and maintain equipment storage areas, tool cribs, and calibration staging areas in compliance with 5S standards and FOD control requirements
  • Support equipment check-out and check-in processes, ensuring accurate records of equipment location, custodian, and status at all times
  • Generate and maintain calibration records, equipment history logs, and out-of-service documentation in accordance with quality procedures
  • Identify trends in equipment failures or calibration anomalies and communicate findings to the appropriate engineering or quality personnel
  • Assist in the procurement process for new equipment, including writing justifications, receiving inspections, and entry into the asset management system
  • Support internal audits and quality reviews by providing accurate equipment records and documentation upon request
  • Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure the right tools are available and serviceable for upcoming work order activities

Critical Skills and Abilities

  • Strong organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
  • Working knowledge of calibration concepts, standards, and traceability requirements (e.g., ANSI/NCSL Z540, ISO 10012)
  • Familiarity with common measurement and test equipment (torque wrenches, pressure gauges, calipers, multimeters, etc.)
  • Ability to read and understand equipment documentation, calibration certificates, and work instructions
  • Proficiency with asset management or calibration management software (Maximo, Indysoft, or similar)
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and escalate issues appropriately
  • Demonstrated ability to apply 5S methodology and maintain an organized, audit-ready work environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in equipment management, calibration coordination, tool crib operations, or a related role in a manufacturing or aerospace environment
  • Demonstrated experience with calibrated equipment tracking or inventory management systems
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (export control requirement) Desired Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical certification in metrology, quality, manufacturing technology, or a related field
  • Experience working in an aerospace, defense, or space launch manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with Maximo or Indysoft calibration management systems
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality management system requirements related to measurement and monitoring equipment
  • Experience supporting internal or external quality audits

  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Work Conditions

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and exposure to high heat or chemicals.

Visual Acuity

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
