Associate Territory Manager
Purpose of the Job The purpose of this position is to support the growth and management of a Safeware sales territory while participating in a structured training and development program designed to prepare the employee for a future Outside Sales Representative role. - Participate in onboarding, sales training, and mentorship programs to develop outside sales skills and industry knowledge.
- Assist senior sales representatives with managing customer accounts and territory development.
- Works with Marketing Department to promote specials and market to assigned accounts.
- Enters information into CRM and utilizes CRM for territory organization and customer tracking.
- Ensures customer satisfaction in assigned accounts.
- Works with customer service to ensure that customers are quoted and orders are processed in a timely manner.
- Handles customer questions and escalates issues to leadership when necessary.
- Learns how to develop and execute territory sales plans with guidance from leadership.
- Learns products and works with vendors to ensure customer needs are met.
- Learns contract vehicles and develops an understanding of government and public safety purchasing processes.
- Contacts new and established customers to create opportunities.
- Assists in developing quotes and maintaining a pipeline of opportunities.
- Participates in customer visits, trade shows, ride-alongs, and vendor demonstrations to build field experience.
- Builds foundational sales, communication, and relationship management skills necessary for advancement into a full Outside Sales Representative role.
Evaluation Criteria This position is designed as a developmental sales role. Success will be measured by growth in sales knowledge, professionalism, customer engagement, and progress toward independently managing accounts. Additionally, Junior Outside Sales Representatives must:
- Follow company policies and procedures
- Observe guidelines for ethics and customer satisfaction
- Contribute to a safe and positive work environment
- Demonstrate willingness to learn, accept coaching, and apply feedback
- Show initiative and consistent progress throughout the training program
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships.
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a desire to develop a career in sales.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Previous internship, customer service, leadership, or campus involvement experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- This position requires local travel for customer visits, training opportunities, ride-alongs, and trade shows.
- Must be a licensed driver, own a vehicle and safe to drive
- Must have a good driving record
- Must be able to travel overnight occasionally as needed for training or events
- Must be able to move samples, demo equipment, and trade show exhibits in and out of their vehicle.
- Must be able to clearly communicate in person and in writing to customers and other employees.
- Must be organized and able to document and follow up on customer information.
