Job Summary:
This position provides high-level administrative, operational, and confidential support to the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), the Associate Vice President of Human Resources and Workforce Equity (HR), and their associated departments. The incumbent performs work of considerable difficulty that requires independent decision-making, sound judgment, and the ability to manage sensitive information in accordance with state and federal regulations, personnel plans, collective bargaining agreements, and institutional procedures.
The position ensures that daily operations function smoothly and efficiently by coordinating communications, overseeing/managing department budget activity, managing department workflows, maintaining confidential records, supporting labor relations processes, and facilitating compliance with mandatory training and reporting requirements. The incumbent also serves as the purchasing representative for the division. Finally, this role also serves as the primary supervisor for the HR student workers and oversees their hiring, training and day-to-day work.

Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner. This includes work assignments necessary to support the functions within the Saint Paul College, Administrative area at the direction of the OAS Principle.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $22.62 - $30.62 hourly
Minimum Qualifications:
Written communication skills sufficient to write, prepare, and edit materials such as memos, procedures, reports, presentations, etc., using correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence construction and clearly explaining complex technical ideas and procedures to varied technical and non-technical audiences.
Knowledge of databases sufficient to use non- standard or advanced software features as research tools and generate a variety of reports.
Proven skills in analyzing, interpreting, reconciling, and preparing financial information, records, and reports; identify errors; and recommend solutions to procedural or other fiscal problems.
Skills in preparing and processing legal documentation and correspondences.
Skills in directing the work activities of support staff to ensure that standards, deadlines, and procedures/processes are met.
Database skills sufficient to create and maintain accurate databases and perform searches to find relevant information and produce up-to-date reports.
Administrative skills sufficient to developing, implementing, and revising administrative procedures and service standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in higher education and/or Minnesota State system.
Previous experience with meeting and event planning.
Demonstrates an effort to improve cultural competence and actively takes steps to include diversity training in professional development.
Ability to handle detailed information and 100% follow-through on those details.
Ability to understand and practice confidentiality procedures under federal and state regulations.
