About this Role

Quanta Power Solutions is seeking an experienced Project Accounting Specialist III to provide advanced project accounting support for large, complex Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects throughout the project lifecycle. This senior-level individual contributor is responsible for overseeing project financial administration, revenue recognition support, contract billing, job cost accounting, financial forecasting, and project closeout while serving as a trusted financial partner to Project Managers, Project Controls, Operations, Procurement, and Executive Leadership.

What You'll Do

Project Accounting

  • Manage all project accounting functions for multiple complex EPC projects from project award through closeout.
  • Establish and maintain project structures, billing terms, cost codes, and financial controls within the ERP system.
  • Review project costs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company accounting policies.
  • Monitor project budgets, commitments, subcontract costs, purchase orders, labor, equipment, and material expenditures.
  • Prepare and process journal entries, accruals, cost transfers, and project reconciliations.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities.
  • Assist with internal and external financial audits.

Billing & Revenue Management

  • Prepare and process customer billings in accordance with contract terms, including:
  • Lump Sum
  • Cost Plus
  • Time & Material
  • Unit Price
  • Milestone Billing
  • Progress Billing
  • Review contract requirements to ensure accurate billing and revenue recognition.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, collections, retainage, and unbilled receivables.
  • Resolve billing discrepancies with clients, project teams, and finance personnel.
  • Support revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and company accounting policies.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Prepare monthly project financial statements and profitability reports.
  • Analyze project financial performance, identifying cost trends, variances, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support project forecasting by preparing Estimate at Completion (EAC) financial analyses and cash flow projections.
  • Partner with Project Controls to reconcile project cost reports and forecasts.
  • Develop financial dashboards and executive-level reporting for project leadership.
  • Monitor project margins and assist with profitability improvement initiatives.

Project Support

  • Partner with Project Managers to review project financial performance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review subcontractor invoices, vendor payments, and purchase commitments.
  • Support change order administration by evaluating financial impacts and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Maintain complete project financial records and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate project closeout activities, including final billings, reconciliations, retention releases, and financial reporting.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project accounting efficiency and reporting accuracy.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of progressively responsible project accounting experience supporting EPC, industrial construction, utility, engineering, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of:

  • Experience supporting multiple large capital projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects.
  • Knowledge of percentage-of-completion and cost-to-cost accounting methodologies.
  • Familiarity with project controls, forecasting, and earned value reporting.
  • Experience supporting projects in power generation, substations, transmission, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), industrial facilities, or data centers.
  • Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
