SUMMARY

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Site Supervisor - Sports Specialist - assists in the implementation and supervision of sports programs conducted by the Novi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department. Exact work schedule and weekly hours are established by the Recreation Supervisor and may vary depending on need. Work on nights, weekends and holidays may be required. Work is performed with some degree of latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and action. Problems encountered range from routine to moderately complex in nature. Work may require moderate physical effort.

RESPONSIBILITES AND ESSSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

• Ensure efficient running on-site of sports leagues, clinics, camps, tournaments, and contests.
• Collaborate with maintenance staff on field preparation and set up.
• Responsible for implementing and enforcing rules and policies.
• Supervise and manage coaches, participants, spectators, officials, referees, and umpires.
• Organize, inventory, and inspect supplies and equipment.
• Act as first responder to incidents and accidents including completion of paperwork.
• Respond to customer and vendor concerns.
• Oversee correct site set up and break down; ensures site left clean and equipment stored.
• Ability to work effectively with a variety of constituents.
• Good organization skills and the ability to undertake a variety of time-sensitive tasks.
• Good customer service skills
• This is a physical position that involves lifting containers that weigh over 10 pounds.
• Must be able to adapt to a variety of working conditions.
• Attends workshops and training sessions.
• Will be cross-trained with Site Supervisor - Event Specialists and may be asked to fill in for this position when there are program gaps.
• Other duties as assigned.

This position is scheduled for 2-3 shifts per week, typically totaling 8-12 hours per week. While the role is limited to a maximum of 24 hours per week, most staff do not work that many hours. Shifts generally take place on weekday evenings (5:30-9:30pm) and weekends (between 7:30am-9:30pm). Must be 15 years of age or older. Pay starts at $15.50 per hour. No benefits. EOE.
