We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our team and support our client.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on data professional with experience building scalable pipelines, integrating complex data sources, and supporting analytics in mission-focused environments. This individual will work across technical and stakeholder teams to design, develop, and maintain data solutions that improve reporting, operational insight, and decision support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines and workflows that support analytics, reporting, and mission delivery.
  • Develop and manage ingestion, transformation, validation, and integration processes for structured and unstructured data.
  • Partner with technical leads, analysts, and customer stakeholders to define data requirements and implement scalable solutions.
  • Support data architecture, data quality, and data lifecycle management activities across cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Build reusable components and engineering patterns that improve efficiency, reliability, and maintainability of data solutions.
  • Contribute to dashboarding, reporting, and analytic enablement by preparing data for downstream consumption.
  • Support DevSecOps and CI/CD practices for data engineering deliverables, including version control, testing, and deployment activities.

Work Experience and Job Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong experience with Python, SQL, and modern data integration and transformation techniques.
  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and working with relational and non-relational data stores.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data environments and orchestration tools is preferred.
  • Experience supporting federal, DoD, or Intelligence Community clients is preferred.
  • Understanding of data quality, governance, metadata, and secure handling of sensitive information.
  • Ability to troubleshoot data issues, improve performance, and work effectively in an agile delivery environment.
  • Experience supporting analytics, machine learning data preparation, or operational reporting use cases is a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree is required. Preferred field of study in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field of study.
  • MBA/Master's Degree in a relevant field of study preferred.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

  • Relevant Cloud or Data Engineering certification is preferred.
  • Security+ or related certification is a plus based on program requirements.

Communication Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, ability to present proposals and performance data, comfortable interfacing all levels of organization.
  • Ability to write clear and concise creative content in a highly confidential manner.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts, data issues, and implementation approaches clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Clearance Requirements

  • This position requires the candidates to be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required; higher clearance may be required based on customer assignment.

Travel

  • Hybrid role based in Herndon, VA, with occasional local travel for customer meetings, workshops, and program reviews.

Environmental Requirements

  • Mainly a routine office environment.
  • May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds.
  • Flexible in working extended hours.
