Level I (X2) — Systems & Infrastructure Engineer II|AI Security & Safety Engineering (IC)
Location: Chennai, India
Level: X2 – Entry to Mid-Level IC
Reports to: Director – AI Security & Safety Engineering
Role Summary
The job of an AI Security Software Engineer requires a robust combination of traditional software engineering, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) expertise. These roles focus on designing, building, testing, and monitoring AI systems to protect them from sophisticated attacks and ensure compliance.
This is a foundational IC role with a growth path into advanced AI safety engineering, MLSecOps, and threat-informed prompt testing.
Core Technical Skills
• Software Engineering and Programming:
o Proficiency in Python (required), plus Java, C++, or Go
o Secure coding practices and awareness of OWASP Top 10
o SDLC awareness and DevSecOps tooling integration (CI/CD pipelines)
• AI/ML Knowledge:
o Familiarity with ML fundamentals and frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn)
o Understanding threats like evasion, poisoning, model inversion, prompt injection
• Cybersecurity & Hacking:
o Exposure to vulnerability scanning and threat modeling
o Understanding of containerized/cloud environments (Docker, Kubernetes, GCP/Azure)
o Basic grasp of cryptography, authentication, and IAM principles
Specialization and Application
• Data Security and Privacy:
o Understanding data access controls, input sanitation, and training data protection
o Awareness of federated learning and differential privacy
• Security Architecture & Incident Response:
o Understanding Zero Trust principles
o Participate in AI-specific IR workflows and postmortem reviews
• Compliance and Ethics:
o Familiar with GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001, and NIST AI RMF basics
o Recognize algorithmic fairness, bias, and safety guardrails

Responsibilities
• Contribute to CI test corpora (e.g., SafetyPrompts, JailbreakBench)
• Implement prompt validators and redaction logic (e.g., Presidio)
• Develop telemetry fields and logging scaffolds (e.g., prompt_hash, model_version)
• Assist in incident reproduction, red-team tracking, and triage
• Write test harness code and review pull requests for safety tests
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s of Engineering with Specialization in Cybersecurity / AI
• Completed minimum 6 months Internship working on A Security & Safety Engineering Projects
• Experience in Python, CI/CD, test writing, JSON/YAML schema
Preferred Qualifications
• Prompt safety experimentation or basic classifier integration
• Prior exposure to red-team scenarios or PII protection workflows
• Interest in applied ML security or MLSecOps
