Job Summary
The OSSG (ONTAP Software & Storage group) Product Team is responsible for building, managing and launching NetApp's core storage and data management products. The team builds the foundational product capabilities behind NetApp's flagship product ONTAP and is at the forefront of driving a transformational journey at NetApp by accelerating innovation across NetApp's hybrid cloud portfolio (Public, Private & On Prem).
Inbound Product Management is a core focus area for the OSSG Product Team and involves the development and alignment of HW, SW, Services and Tools that enable Customer Value across the OSSG product portfolio. The goal of the Inbound Product Management team is to envision, plan and execute a product strategy that drives customer success, is industry best in class and innovate. This vision will encompass a broad scope of requirements, including hardware and software needs, best in class performance, innovative deployment methodologies and cost optimization.
The successful candidate will work closely with the inbound product team to understand the core software requirements as well as the hardware engineering teams to define the requirements and direction of the platform development efforts. Working with the outbound team is another essential part of developing the strategy and requirements for customer needs, market trends and deployment models. This role will sit as a connection point with all the major teams, including HW and SW engineering, Outbound Product Management, Solution architects and industry analysts.
Job Requirements
Platform Planning
- Storage Systems Planning. Develop a platform vision and roadmap that will be best in class both with performance and cost optimization.
- Leadership of a team of experienced storage product managers.
- Communication across stakeholders in Product Management, Engineering and leadership teams.
- Experience and depth in storage Media. Lead the direction and implementation decisions on the latest NAND and Storage media.
- Experience with Networking, Clustering and Switches. Plan the networking portfolio for both inbound networking and backend clustering
- Understanding and vision of scale out architectures, including platforms and erasure code /RAID configurations.
Product Development Vision
- Stand with HW engineering teams, lead with vision and market requirements while partnering on implementation options.
Capabilities
- Demonstrated Storage HW planning experience thru the entire lifecycle.
- Ability and aptitude to develop deep understanding of NetApp's product portfolio, market segments, value propositions, routes to market, business models and unit economics
- Excellent communication, organization, leadership, and execution skills
- Builds strong connections and work cohesively with internal and external stakeholders
Education
•
> 7 years of prior experience of working in Enterprise Storage or the IT infrastructure space in the following roles: Platform Planning Product Management, Solutions Engineering or HW development
•
> 4 years of prior experience of leading and scaling a high performing team
•
Significant prior experience in roles which required Executive visibility and interaction and the need to influence cross-functional stakeholders
•
Proven track record of delivering on a vision & strategy
•
Strong analytical orientation, proven ability to build data models and marshal quantitative analysis to drive strategic decisions
•
Self-motivated, process driven, biased toward action, capable of defining objectives and delivering workstreams from start to finish with limited oversight

Colorado Residents Only: If the Company determines this role will be performed in Colorado, the starting salary for this position is (.9 compa*). This role could be eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, 401(K), Paid Time off (PTO), Company bonus, Employee stock purchase plan, and restricted stocks (RSU’s) *. Final compensation will be dependent on various factors such as location, qualifications, certifications, relevant work experience and other factors, consistent with applicable law.
