Job description

For over a 100 years, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay has been dedicated to ending animal homelessness and providing care and comfort for companion animals in need. We're currently seeking a full time Maintenance Technician to help maintain the overall property conditions and standards. The functions of this role include, but are not limited to, performing routine maintenance and repairs on building and equipment, groundskeeping and conducting regular inspections.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Maintain overall property condition and standards
  • Maintain the appearance of common areas, lawns, and landscaping within the Hillsborough campus
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, equipment, and common areas to maintain their functionality and appearance
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing and irrigation issues
  • Address maintenance work orders and complete repairs promptly and efficiently
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify areas that require attention and implement preventative maintenance measures
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders and repairs performed
  • Assist with trash collection and ensure proper disposal of waste in designated areas
  • Utilize physical dexterity and stamina to perform tasks that may involve lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions
  • Responds to emergencies, such as leaks, power outages, and other urgent maintenance needs
  • Comply with all established safety procedures and protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and tool safety
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry advancements

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of proven experience in facilities maintenance, preferably in a multi-use setting
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and rehab of homes.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools effectively and safely
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and provide effective solutions
  • Strong communication skills to interact with executives, staff, volunteers and guests
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
  • Ability to lift, push, and transport minimum of 50 pounds
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License; driving record is subject to evaluation
  • Personal cell phone real-time communications, emergency responses, and remote access to Company documents/ timesheets.
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED)
  • Fork lift certified preferred
  • Schedule involves working weekends
  • Salary is negotiable based on experience
