Regulatory Specialist | SEB, Luxembourg
SEB Luxembourg branch serves as the hub for Private Wealth Management & Family Office (PWM&FO) services to Nordic nationals living abroad. As part of the new strategy for PWM&FO we aim to become the leading wealth accumulator in our core markets and that requires a state-of-the-art core banking offering and financial infrastructure. It is also the base for many of SEB's funds and offers global custody and related depositary services to financial institutions. We have around 150 employees of over 20 different nationalities.
About the role
At SEB Luxembourg we are looking for a Regulatory Specialist to support the business and Branch Management in their efforts to be compliant with laws and regulation to highest standards.
You will be part of the Risk and Regulatory team who together with the business units represent the first line of defense. We live an inclusive leadership culture with empowerment and involvement to facilitate innovation and development in an international and multi-cultural environment.
Your responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:
- Own and enhance the MiFID II framework within the branch, acting as the MiFID Operating Responsible (MIFIDOR) and ensuring effective implementation across investment activities
- Lead and support regulatory onboarding activities across frameworks such as MiFID II, EMIR, SFTR, and Dodd-Frank, ensuring accurate and compliant execution
- Provide regulatory guidance to business and management on key directives including the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) and Mortgage Credit Directive (MCD)
- Partner with Legal, Compliance and Risk Oversight to streamline regulatory onboarding processes, improve data quality, and enhance governance
- Contribute to process optimization and automation initiatives to improve efficiency, control, and client experience
- Design and deliver targeted training programs to strengthen regulatory awareness and readiness across teams
- Act as a key contact for audits, regulatory inspections, and internal reviews, ensuring transparency and readiness
- Liaise with Head Office to monitor and implement regulatory developments and ensure consistent standards across the organization
What we are looking for
To succeed in this role, you bring strong analytical skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to quickly develop a solid understanding of the Private Banking business in Luxembourg. You are pragmatic, comfortable working independently, and confident taking initiative and ownership of your responsibilities.
You build effective working relationships and communicate clearly across all levels, supporting colleagues on regulatory matters when needed. You are a team player with high integrity and handle confidential information with professionalism.
You have around 5+ years of experience in regulatory and MiFID II-related roles, ideally within SEB or a similar organization, along with a good understanding of Private Banking products and services. You take a practical, solution-oriented approach to regulatory requirements.
You are fluent in English, with French or a Nordic language as an advantage. As a person, you are open-minded, collaborative, and driven by challenges, with a strong sense of ownership and a focus on delivering results through effective stakeholder collaboration.
