Job Summary...
The Accounting Specialist maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions for this location are properly recorded. This role ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts - including Accounts Receivable - to the general ledger. The Accounting Specialist compiles financial data to aid more senior accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports, and assists in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to help predict future revenues and expenses.
For this location, the role carries primary responsibility for Accounts Receivable invoicing functions, including all related computer entries, filing, research, invoice preparation and dispatch, and contact with outside representatives and customers. The Accounting Specialist works closely with other members of the finance team to ensure reporting goals and schedules are met.
Your Responsibilities...
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure financial transactions are properly recorded in the general ledger.
- Ensure the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconcile subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
- Compile financial data to support more senior accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Assist in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to help predict future revenues and expenses.
- Process all invoicing actions for the Company.
- Process SDA invoices from all billing agencies into the IFS System.
- Answer all customer and representative questions pertaining to invoices and payments.
- Assist corporate AR in application of payments from customers, ensuring they are charged to the correct department and account.
- Answer questions from internal and external customers concerning invoices and payments.
- Email copies of intercompany revenue adjustments to the appropriate location controllers or cost accountants.
- Assist with the preparation of various financial/fiscal reports; develop supporting analyses for reports using independent judgment to interpret established procedures and instructions.
- Code freight bills from Trans International and other external customers; upload adjusted site details into IFS for payment.
- Gather required information for sales tax collection and reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.

Do You Qualify...
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. (An Associate's degree with documented intent to pursue a Bachelor's will suffice to start the position.)
- Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant accounting experience, with strong skills and abilities in computer data entry. High competency with Microsoft Office applications required. Experience with IFS systems is an asset.
- Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
