Why This Role Is Valuable
As a senior member of the IAS Claims function, the Head of Third-Party Claims provides strategic leadership and oversight for all third-party liability and financial lines claims programs. This role is responsible for claim outcomes, stakeholder engagement, claims governance, market relationships, and talent development across a broad range of liability exposures.
The Head of Third-Party Claims establishes the strategic direction for the third-party claims function, ensuring consistent claim handling, effective escalation management, strong stakeholder engagement, and alignment with broader organizational objectives.
This role serves as a trusted advisor to portfolio company leadership, brokers, carriers, TPAs, and internal stakeholders while partnering closely with the Head of Claim Operations to drive operational excellence, reporting transparency, and continuous improvement across the claims organization.
The position supports the ongoing development of global claims standards and best practices while ensuring strong coordination across North America, EMEA, and APAC.
This position is based out of Revantage's office in Dallas, TX.
How You Add Value
You lead third-party claims strategy and performance:
Establish strategic priorities and objectives for third-party claims programs across casualty, workers’ compensation, and financial lines exposures
Provide executive oversight of complex, high-severity, sensitive, or reputationally significant claims
Ensure appropriate claim resolution strategies are developed and executed in alignment with business objectives
Serve as the primary escalation point for significant liability and financial lines matters
Provide strategic oversight of coverage analysis and claim positioning across liability and financial lines programs, ensuring alignment with policy intent, claim objectives, and organizational priorities
Evaluate complex coverage issues involving multiple policies, carriers, layers, jurisdictions, and insured entities, developing coordinated claim and coverage strategies in partnership with carriers, brokers, legal stakeholders, and portfolio company leadership
Collaborate with insurer claim professionals, defense counsel, portfolio company legal teams, brokers, and other stakeholders to address coverage disputes, allocation issues, reservation of rights matters, and policy interpretation challenges
Anticipate emerging risks, litigation trends, regulatory developments, and coverage issues that may impact portfolio companies or insurance programs
Drive consistency in claim handling philosophy, stakeholder engagement, and escalation practices across the third-party claims function

You serve as a trusted advisor to portfolio companies and stakeholders
Develop trusted advisor relationships with portfolio company leadership, risk management, and legal stakeholders, providing strategic guidance regarding claims, coverage, litigation trends, and risk mitigation opportunities
Provide strategic guidance regarding claim trends, litigation exposure, risk mitigation opportunities, and resolution strategies
Support portfolio companies during significant claim events, complex litigation, and high-impact incidents
Ensure claim activity and resolution strategies align with portfolio company objectives and organizational priorities
Represent the Claims function during executive reviews, stewardship meetings, underwriting discussions, and strategic planning sessions
You drive accountability across carriers, brokers, TPAs, and vendors
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with carriers, brokers, TPAs, defense counsel, and other service providers
Lead claim reviews and stewardship discussions focused on claim outcomes, service delivery, and continuous improvement
Evaluate partner performance and drive accountability for service expectations, claim quality, responsiveness, and results
Partner with Placement and underwriting stakeholders to ensure claim experience informs program strategy and renewal discussions
Provide feedback regarding carrier, broker, counsel, and vendor performance to support long-term program improvement
You leverage data and insights to improve outcomes
Utilize claims analytics, portfolio trends, litigation insights, and performance metrics to inform decision-making and claim strategy
Partner with the Head of Claim Operations and Claims Analysts to identify emerging risks and opportunities for improvement
Translate claims insights into actionable recommendations that support loss control initiatives, underwriting strategy, and risk financing decisions
Use reporting and performance metrics to evaluate team effectiveness, claim outcomes, and organizational performance
You lead and develop talent
Lead, coach, and develop Claim Specialists and Claims Analysts supporting third-party claims programs
Establish clear expectations regarding claim quality, communication, accountability, and stakeholder engagement
Demonstrate proactive leadership by identifying issues, opportunities, and risks before escalation is required
Exercise sound judgment regarding claim, operational, reputational, and stakeholder matters
Foster accountability across the team by establishing clear expectations and addressing performance concerns in a timely manner
Communicate effectively with executive leadership, portfolio company stakeholders, and external partners, tailoring messaging appropriately to the audience
Create an environment that encourages independent thinking, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Identify capability gaps and develop succession and talent strategies to support future growth
You support enterprise value and cross-functional alignment
Serve as a strategic partner to the Global Head of Claims in advancing organizational priorities and initiatives
Partner closely with the Head of Claim Operations to ensure alignment between claims strategy and operational execution
Collaborate across IAS functions, including Placement, Transactions, and Advisory & Communications, as well as Legal, Treasury, Finance, and Data & Technology
Support the development and implementation of global claims standards, governance frameworks, and best practices
Represent the third-party claims function in market-facing, underwriting, and strategic business discussions
WHAT YOU BRING TO THIS ROLE
Required:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
15+ years of claims experience involving casualty, liability, workers’ compensation, financial lines, or related insurance disciplines
Demonstrated leadership experience managing claims teams or claims functions
Strong understanding of liability and financial lines claim management, insurance policy structures, coverage analysis, allocation methodologies, litigation management, and claim recovery strategies
Experience navigating complex coverage issues involving multiple policies, carriers, insured entities, and stakeholder groups
Experience engaging with carriers, brokers, TPAs, legal counsel, and senior business stakeholders
Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
Experience leading through change, driving accountability, and developing high-performing teams
Familiarity with RMIS platforms, including Origami Risk
Preferred:
Juris Doctor (JD), CPCU, AIC, ARM, or other advanced degree or professional designation
Experience supporting complex insurance programs involving multiple entities, jurisdictions, and lines of coverage
Experience managing claims involving layered insurance programs, captive structures, shared insurance programs, and complex multi-policy coverage matters
Experience with captive programs, shared insurance structures, or large deductible programs
Exposure to multinational insurance programs and cross-border claims management
Experience influencing underwriting strategy, renewal discussions, or insurance program design
Experience supporting commercial real estate, hospitality, multifamily, industrial, or related asset classes
Base Compensation Range:
$170,000.00 To $200,000.00 Annually. This represents the presently-anticipated low and high end of the Company’s base compensation range for this position. Actual base compensation range may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.
Total Direct Compensation:
This job is also eligible for discretionary bonus and incentive compensation on an annual basis.
