Job Requirements

The Clin i ca l Nurse I (CN I ) role is designed fo r new graduate nurses or nurses with l ess than 12

months of c l i n i ca l exper i e nc e . The CN I i s expected to successfully complete a ll requ ir eme nt s of Member Organ i zat i o n ' s Nurse Residency Program (if app li cable} and departmenta l o ri entat i o n . The CN I w ill achieve practice readiness as defined by UMMS: ' 'The abi l ity to assess and manage each patient's d i verse cl i nic a l needs w h i l e demonstrating the confidence and competence to sa fe l y perform and coordinate the in tervent i ons nee d ed to provide equi ta b l e , comprehensive pat ie n t centered care . " The CN I prov id es d i rec t pat i e n t care w hi l e collaborating with i nte rd i scip l ina ry team members a nd remains accou n tab l e for pro f essio n a l practice in a l ig nme n t wit h UMMS M i ssion , Vision, and Va l ues .

Work Experience

• Lice ns ure as a Reg ister ed Nurse in the state o f Mary l and OR e l igib i li ty to pract ice d ue to Compact s t a te agreements ou tl i ned throug h the Mary l a nd Board o f Nursing requ ire d .
• Graduat i on from an accred i ted nursing program with Associate Degree i n Nursing or Bache l or o f Sc i ence i n Nu rsi n g (or hig h er) OR e li gib l e to s i t for NCLEX. Must pass NCL EX within 90 days of hir e .
• Current Amer i can Heart Assoc i at i on B asic Li fe Support cert ifi cat i on requ ir ed . Will accep t Red Cross BLS upon hire (new h i res on l y) .
• S p ecia lt y li fe support cert i fi cation requ ir e d based on cl i n ic a l area assig nm en t (m u s t be obtained within 6 mo n ths of hire or by comp l etion of u n i t orientation, w h ic hever is l onger ) A dv a nce d Cardiac Life Support for nurses ca ring for ad ult c ri tica l care patients
