Overview

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has multiple exciting opportunities for an Outside Scheduler for our office in Norfolk.

Employment Type: Full-Time, I n-Person

Compensation Range: $18.75/hr - $22.16/hr

Responsibilities

  • Schedules physician referrals and/or outside testing and labs as directed by physician
  • Obtains necessary insurance authorization
  • Communicates to patients the type of test, any necessary prep, and date/time/location of appointment
  • Follows up on all tests to ensure completion prior to next visit with physician
  • Researches and responds to routine and non-routine inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years medical office experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for prolonged periods of time.
