POSITION SUMMARY: Under general guidance of the Employee Relations, Manager the Employee Relations Investigator, will serve as the crucial link between management and staff. The position will be responsible for addressing workplace concerns, conducting thorough investigations, advising leadership on disciplinary procedures, and ensuring compliance with employment laws. Responsibilities Essential Functions: Mediate and resolve internal disputes between employees or between staff and management. Assist in the development, planning, and implementation of employee relations processes and best practices. Address employee complaints and grievances promptly, maintaining strict confidentiality. Conduct objective, fact-finding investigations into claims of misconduct, harassment, or policy violations, and recommend appropriate actions. Conduct intake assessments and determine appropriate resolution path (investigation vs. mediation) Develop investigation plans including scope, witnesses, and evidence strategy Manage investigation timelines to ensure prompt resolution Write comprehensive, factual reports of findings resulting from the assigned investigations for use in administrative decision-making. Ensure company policies align with local, state, and federal labor laws. Assist in updating the employee handbook and advise management on consistent policy application. Advise and coach management on performance issues, corrective actions, and disciplinary procedures. Conduct/Review exit interviews, analyze feedback, and track ER trends to recommend proactive interventions that improve workplace culture and retention. Partner with the Employee Relations Manager and Legal on high-risk or sensitive investigations as appropriate. Prepare documentation suitable for litigation or regulatory review. Identify and escalate legal or compliance risks. Monitor post-investigation outcomes and corrective actions. Maintain accurate and timely case documentation within the employee relations case management system while ensuring confidentiality throughout the investigation process. Conduct follow-up reviews to ensure sustained resolution. Qualifications Qualifications & Skill Requirements: Associate degree required, Bachelors preferred in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field. Three (3) or more years of progressive Human Resources or Employee Relations experience, including conducting workplace investigations and managing complex employee relations matters. Solid understanding of state and federal employment laws, labor relations, and equal employment opportunity (EEO) regulations. Exceptional active listening, emotional intelligence, and negotiation skills. Proven ability to handle highly sensitive, confidential information with tact, objectivity, and discretion. Professional HR certifications (such as SHRM-CP or PHR) are highly desired. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Physical Demands & Work Environment: This is a full-time position. Work hours will vary depending on client schedules, project deadlines, and the needs of the company. Workweeks may exceed 40 hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Environment may be fast paced and stressful. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend approximately 75% of the time sitting and will walk or sit 25% of the time; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; occasionally the employee will stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to twenty-five pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
