Job Title: Extrusion Operator (Training Provided)
Reports to: Shift Supervisor
Direct Reports: None
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Shift differential applies for 2nd, 3rd, and weekend shifts
Position Summary
The Extrusion Operator I is responsible for supporting the manufacturing of polyethylene (PE) pipe through tasks such as coiling, taping, stacking, packaging, and performing basic quality checks. This is an entry-level position with training provided. The role also includes maintaining a clean and safe work environment and assisting other departments or shifts as directed by leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the line operation of extrusion equipment used to product HDPE pipe in accordance with established Infra Pipe procedures, policies, and standards.
- Packaging pipe in accurate pallet sizes and quantities and document production.
- Maintaining inventory of material, transferring, and loading material for production.
- Performing quality checks to pipe products, ensuring they meet Infra Pipe quality standards.
- Troubleshooting, maintaining, and making minor repairs to equipment, as required.
- Maintaining safe working conditions by ensuring a clean working area and reporting any issues to supervisor.
- Actively participate in all Health & Safety training and promote a safe work environment.
- Participate in all 5-S and Lean Manufacturing initiatives, as promoted by Infra Pipe.
- Language of Work: English (spoken and written)
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills.
- Reading, writing, and basic math skills related to production work.
- Ability to use and interpret precision instruments, tools, and machinery.
- Physically capable of performing job tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Good organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Strong commitment to safety in a production environment.
- Adherence to company Quality Policy.
- Proficient in English to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and reports, and to communicate effectively with colleagues.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Walk, sit, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear.
- Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with arms; climb stairs or ladders.
- Visual abilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and color distinction.
- Lift objects up to 50 lbs.
