Job description

Safety Worxs is seeking a Project Safety Coordinator (PSC) for a heavy civil, parking garage project in Houston, TX. There is not per diem, so local candidate preferred. The (PSC) is responsible for leading and managing all construction safety activities from project commencement through substantial completion. This role ensures full compliance with federal, state, and project-specific safety standards while fostering a proactive, positive safety culture. The PSC will remain active on the project until the ODR provides written concurrence for removal.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and oversee the project’s safety program throughout the full construction lifecycle.
  • Implement and manage construction safety processes, including hazard identification, mitigation, and routine field inspections.
  • Conduct incident investigations and prepare documentation with preventive recommendations.
  • Provide documented continuing education and practical training in:
    • Fall Protection
    • Scaffolds
    • Excavation & Trenching
    • Confined Space
    • Crane/Equipment Operations
    • Electrical Safety
    • Incident Investigation
  • Review and approve safety method statements and procedures related to high-hazard activities.
  • Coordinate emergency response planning, including First Aid/CPR/AED requirements.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, compliance documentation, and training evidence.
  • Serve as a liaison with the ODR and project leadership for all safety matters.
  • Ensure subcontractors adhere to project safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years building construction safety, (NOTE: O&G, industrial, specialty 3rd party contractor will not suffice) or
  • 4-year safety degree and 3+ years of actual field safety experience.

  • Must possess OSHA 500 (Construction Industry Trainer) OR OSHA 502 (Trainer Update).
    • NOTE: OSHA 10 or 30 and OSHA 510 do not satisfy the training requirement.

  • Documented continuing education in the following, dated within the last 5 years:
    • Fall Protection
    • Scaffolds
    • Excavation
    • Confined Space
    • Crane/Equipment Operations
    • Electrical Safety
    • Incident Investigation
    • Other relevant safety/health topics
  • Current certifications in:
    • Emergency First Aid
    • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
    • Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
      (All must be current within 2 years.)
  • Strong, demonstrated experience in incident prevention, field engagement, and enforcing safety compliance.
