$17.75 - $19.25 Hourly

HOURS

Monday - Friday 7am - 5:30pm

POSITION SUMMARY

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Assists Preschool Teacher in working with children enrolled in our Early Learning Program. Assists in planning and leading age and developmentally appropriate early learning experiences in a classroom setting, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children ages 2 to 5 years of age. Reports directly to the Preschool Teacher or Program Director as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES

  • Assists in planning and leading age-appropriate individual and group activities
  • Supervises children in classrooms, play areas, and during program activities
  • Ensures a safe, nurturing, and clean environment
  • Supports lesson planning and child development evaluations
  • Creates a positive rapport and shared interest with all youth
  • Prepares snacks and may assist in tending to diapering and toilet needs of children

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • TB clearance

Skills/Knowledge

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability and willingness to learn and perform a variety of program activities, office and related tasks and activities
  • Ability to work effectively with others
  • General office operations experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and clean traffic abstract preferred

Education/Training

  • Must meet all criminal history, employment history, child abuse/neglect history standards as required by the Department of Human Services Licensing Requirements
  • Complete mandatory trainings, including First Aid and CPR, within 3 months of hire
