Job description

About the Company

Our client is a reputable construction consultancy firm based in Johor Bahru, providing integrated project management, design advisory, and technical consultancy services for a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, and industrial projects across Malaysia and the region. We pride ourselves on delivering innovative, sustainable, and buildable solutions that align with our clients' vision and regulatory requirements.

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Registered Architect to join our dynamic consultancy team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the architectural design and documentation process, ensuring design excellence, technical compliance, and seamless coordination with clients, authorities, and multidisciplinary project teams (e.g., civil, structural, MEP). This role requires a strong blend of creative design thinking, technical proficiency, and project management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Development: Lead the conceptualization, schematic design, design development, and preparation of detailed construction drawings and specifications for various projects.
  • Authority Compliance: Ensure all architectural designs comply with Malaysian building codes, regulations, local authority requirements, and sustainability standards.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary architectural point of contact for clients, presenting designs, addressing feedback, and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Technical Coordination: Coordinate closely with internal and external engineering teams (structural, MEP, civil), contractors, and quantity surveyors to integrate design inputs and resolve technical issues.
  • Site Supervision & Quality Assurance: Conduct periodic site visits to monitor construction progress, ensure adherence to design intent, and address site queries or non-conformities.
  • Project Documentation: Prepare, review, and manage all architectural documentation, including reports, drawings, submission packages, and as-built records.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and technical support to junior architects and drafters within the team.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of post-registration experience, with a proven track record in architectural design and project delivery within the Malaysian construction industry. Experience in consultancy firms is highly advantageous.
  • High proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of local building codes, planning regulations, and submission procedures.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin proficiency is an advantage for regional projects.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and team coordination abilities.
  • Portfolio: A compelling portfolio showcasing completed projects (from concept to completion) is required during the interview process.
