Become a part of our talented dteq team, as we look for a Naval Architect - Marine Transport Engineer (m/w/d) in Bremen, Germany.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform structural, stability, fatigue and FEM analyses using ANSYS, Inventor or similar applications.
  • Design load‑spreading systems, grillage structures, and seafastening solutions e.g. pipe bracings
  • Provide manufacturing drawings for grillage and other steel construction designs
  • Perform global and local strength calculations for barges / pontoons
  • Perform feasibility checks for Flat Deck barges and Deck carriers considering RoRo operations in tidal waters
  • Issue towage calculations, plans and create the related towage manual
  • Prepare and review stowage, lashing plans and related calculations.
  • Develop engineering documentation including manufacturing drawings, stress analyses, method statements, lifting & rigging plans, and relevant technical reports.
  • Conduct motion response analysis using Octopus Office 6.
  • Prepare barge ballast plans and mooring analyses using Optimoor.
  • Supervise cargo‑handling operations when required.
  • Collaborate closely with internal deugro group companies and maintain professional communication with dteq clients.

Skills, knowledge and expertise

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Naval Architect, Marine Transport Engineer, or a similar role in the marine heavy‑lift industry.
  • Degree in Naval Architecture, Structural Engineering or comparable education.
  • Ability to calculate bolted and welded connections
  • Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards, especially DNV‑ST‑N001.
  • Solid understanding of vessel deck constructions, loading, lashing, welding and vessel operations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office / 365 and commonly used engineering software.
  • Hands‑on, proactive, solution‑oriented mindset with the ability to handle time pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and a team‑player mentality.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Ability to travel abt. 20%
