Purpose of Position
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, we are seeking a passionate, dynamic, and dedicated Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will empower students with essential, real-world skills for this year and beyond. You will develop and deliver a comprehensive curriculum that spans culinary arts, nutrition, financial literacy, human development, and consumer skills. The ideal candidate will foster a supportive, hands-on classroom environment in which students learn to navigate the challenges of living and working in a diverse, global society.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching duties
Supervision of students
Grading
Lesson planning and implementation.
Follow and participate in the development of the curriculum for courses taught
Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students
Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations, to build student engagement, collaboration, and independence with complex tasks
Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
General management of classroom and lab areas.
Oversee practical lab experiences, ensuring safety, proper equipment usage, and sanitation protocols.
Participate in district-level professional development and content-specific
Teaming.
Collaborate with fellow CTE teachers, counselors, and administration to align curriculum with state standards and workforce trends.
Serve as advisor for HOSA or FCCLA student organization.
Community Engagement
Maintain open communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and foster partnerships with local businesses or community organizations.
Other Duties as Assigned
Complete any and all district required training.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
Demonstrated ability to establish relationships at all levels of the organization
Follow principles and practices that promote and advance anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion
Ability to teach in a hands-on, project based environment
Ability to facilitate students in problem solving strategies
Skilled in a computer based environment
Familiarity with safety requirements and certifications needed for a family/consumer and early childhood environment
Teaching strengths in integrating Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
Effective classroom management practices to facilitate learning in a lab environment
Ability to work collaboratively with other Family and Consumer Science teachers at both the district and school levels.
Demonstrated commitment to supporting a strong/rigorous curriculum focused on preparing students for relevant technical careers in today's ever changing workplace.
Demonstrated knowledge of the following programs
Child development and child care services
Independent living
Family living
Parenting and relationships
Health science occupations
Body structure and function
Experience supervising preschool simulation and/or supervising Wisconsin Assistant Child Care Teacher (ACCT) student certification
Demonstrated desire and skills required to design programming and make recommendations for classes that will prepare students for competitive careers after high school.
Successful experience advising Career & Technical Student Organizations.
Training/experience with: incorporating computer technology skills in curriculum, use of inclusion models, working within an instructional team, standards-based assessment and instruction, teaching a diverse student population, including multi-aged groupings.
Demonstrated successful experience in writing curriculum and developing relationships with the business community.
Understanding and commitment to use of proper safety procedures.
Expectation of continued professional growth and cross curricular support and integration
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications
Dual credit certification with the Wisconsin Technical College System
Hold or be willing to pursue both 1216-Vocational Education license and 1211-Child Care Services licenses
License or Certification Requirements
Example: Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Family & Consumer Science licensure (1210) certification to include Grades 9-12, or willingness to complete requirements of certification program. The incumbent must have a current license or obtain a license within a timeframe determined by the District.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work under generally safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors is minimal and poses little to no risk of injury. This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and may involve walking, sitting, stooping or reaching. Manual dexterity is necessary for completing general tasks while operating office equipment. This position may require being stationary for extended periods of time.
Ability to perform work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments throughout the year, including in inclement weather, spaces without air conditioning, and areas where temperatures may be uncomfortable or fluctuate rapidly.
Working Conditions
Work may require travel to different locations within the district and to off-site meetings.
Position may require working evenings, nights, and some weekends.
School-based positions are required to be in-person unless otherwise directed by the building principal.
