Job description

2025/26 Australia Summer Undergraduate Internship - Sydney

About Baringa: We set out to build the world’s most trusted consulting firm – creating lasting impact for clients and pioneering a positive, people-first way of working. We work with everyone from FTSE 100 names to bright new start-ups, in every sector.

You’ll find us collaborating shoulder-to-shoulder with our clients, from the big picture right down to the detail: helping them define their strategy, deliver complex change, spot the right commercial opportunities, manage risk, or bring their purpose and sustainability goals to life. Our clients love how we get to know what makes their organisations tick – slotting seamlessly into their teams and being proudly geeky about solving their challenges.

We have hubs in Europe, the US, Asia and Australia, and we work all around the world - from a wind farm in Wyoming to a boardroom in Berlin. Find us wherever there's a challenge to be tackled and an impact to be made.

Our leading Australian consulting practice has some exciting Internship opportunities in Sydney for students passionate about working on the forefront of the energy transition.

What will you be doing?

Specific roles will vary and typically could include elements of research, business or market analysis, operating model innovation, process design and systems delivery. You will typically be working in collaboration with client and/or Baringa team members and will be required to be able to plan and execute your own work with supervision. As an Intern, your role will require you to be honest, flexible, adaptable, and passionate about clients’ businesses.

We have open positions across four of our teams in Energy and Financial Services:

  • Power Market Fundamentals & Transactions
  • Energy Strategy & Commercial Advisory
  • Energy Policy & Regulatory Advisory
  • Financial Services – Climate and Sustainability Advisory

In the energy sector, we offer clients a unique blend of deep energy market expertise and commercial insight. We work with organisations at the forefront of the energy sector’s decarbonisation and transition, providing strategic, economic, and commercial consulting to energy companies, financial institutions, governments, and regulators.

In the financial services sector, we primarily support Australia’s largest banks, superannuation funds, asset managers, and insurers. Our work also extends beyond financial institutions, helping clients build robust internal climate and sustainability functions. This enables them to navigate and meet evolving requirements for climate and sustainability disclosures, positioning them to lead in a low-carbon economy.

Your skills and experience

  • You are an Undergraduate Student currently in your penultimate year at university with a strong academic background. We are ideally looking for candidates studying an analytical degree in the fields of Maths, Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics or similar, to join our growing team in Sydney.
  • You will hold some professional experience in roles that demonstrate the ability to take ownership and deliver results in challenging environments (often client facing), or similar experience in non-professional roles (e.g. positions in university clubs and societies)
  • You will have excellent communication and presentation skills and are an effective team player
  • You hold strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You are passionate about playing a role in driving the energy transition!

So, what's in it for you?

  • Work closely with senior stakeholders both within Baringa and with the client.
  • Award winning training: We invest in you, to ensure your continuous development.
  • Award winning workplace: You can be a part of our ‘Great Place to Work’ – with our commitment to women and well-being in the workplace for all.
  • The chance to join as an Analyst once you’ve graduated!

Using business as a force for good. We maintain high standards of environmental performance and transparency, which can be seen through our commitment to Net Zero with our SBTI-verified Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions reduction targets and our support of the Better Business Act. We report our progress publicly and ensure that we are also externally assessed and scored through organisations like CDP and EcoVadis - helping us to continually identify where we can improve.

We have a long legacy of supporting the communities in which we work, and offer a variety of ways to contribute, by putting people first and creating impact that lasts. Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda is about giving back to the communities in which we live and work by sharing our skills, talent and time. In essence, we aim to empower and encourage everyone in the firm to contribute to the things we care about, and support registered charities and organisations with a clear social or environmental purpose to increase the positive impact they can have.

We’re proud of our recent exploration of kindness and its role in business in our first-ever brand campaign: Economics of Kindness. You can see some additional recent impact work by clicking here .
