The Compliance Coordinator, part of the OMI Operations Team and working in close collaboration with Unit Leadership, is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining internal audit policies and procedures related to the administration of the Project Orders (amendments) to the Interagency Agreement between Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) and the University of Illinois. The Compliance Coordinator will also ensure complete, accurate and timely audit information is reported to key stakeholders. The Compliance Coordinator will collaborate with the Operations Team to identify, facilitate, and coordinate strategic partnerships and establish necessary resources required to ensure compliance of all OMI projects, goals, and objectives. Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) is Illinois' single state Medicaid agency and the state organization responsible for administering Illinois' Medical Assistance and Child Support programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitors the utilization, allocation, and financial compliance of existing resources required to support OMI projects and initiatives, ensuring expenditures align with approved budgets, funding restrictions, and university/state policy.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal audit policies and procedures while ensuring complete, accurate, and timely audit information is reported
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining tracking and reporting tools to assess Compliance with applicable regulations
  • Establish resource plans for OMI projects and operations to ensure OMI Leadership understands the resource commitment to achieve projects and initiatives.
  • In collaboration with OMI Leadership, cultivate and maintain existing partnerships with University resources and OMI on behalf of HFS.
  • Utilize creative problem solving and propose solutions to OMI leadership to achieve Unit goals and objectives through the innovative utilization of University resources.
  • Scheduling and facilitating meetings between new or existing partners and OMI.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

A total of two 2 years (24months) in education, training and/or work experience in Public Administration, Public Health, or related field. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.) Experience working within the health/regulatory environment. Demonstrated experience in health care policy and/or data management. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance concepts and practices
  • Understanding of data management and analysis skills.
  • Strong conceptual and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide strategic recommendations.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, for oral and written communication with stakeholder engagement.
  • Must be able to quickly assess and analysis strategic business affairs to act in the best interest of OMI/HFS.
  • Ability to work well with a team.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, with special emphasis on Excel
  • Knowledge in healthcare compliance concepts, policies, and best practices.
  • Strong data management and analysis skills, with the ability to interpret and report on compliance metrics.
  • Ability to analyze and assess business operations to align with compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and oversee compliance-related initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Knowledge in process improvement and project management preferred.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION This is a 100% Full Time Civil Service Program Coordinator position. The expected start date is 8/17/2026.

The budgeted salary range for the position is $70,000.00 - 85,000.00. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
