Finance Controller and Head of Accounts

About the Role
As the Finance Controller & Head of Accounts, you will oversee all aspects of the accounts and finance departments. Your role is crucial in maintaining proper financial management, safeguarding the organization's financial and material resources, and driving financial planning and fundraising initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting Operations
•
Plan, implement, and oversee day-to-day accounting operations.
•
Ensure all accounting and financial-related documents are captured, stored, and managed effectively.
•
Monitor and analyze accounting data, ensuring accuracy and timely postings.
•
Adhere to and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
Accounting Records Management
•
Ensure all transactions are captured with source documents and posted into the ERP Software.
•
Conduct daily reviews of all postings to ensure accuracy and timely reconciliations.
•
Post all end-of-month adjustments and ensure a clean close of the period.
•
Maintain and reconcile intercompany accounts and ensure all transactions are posted into the ERP system daily.
•
Set up and manage an effective document management system for all accounting-related activities.
Financial Planning and Modelling
•
Oversee the preparation of annual and quarterly financial plans.
•
Develop and utilize financial modelling templates for forecasting financial needs.
•
Support financial analysis and planning using these templates.
Financial Reporting and Audit
•
Prepare financial statements in compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards.
•
Coordinate annual external audits of financial statements.
•
Ensure timely submission of monthly program reports.
Budgeting and Budgetary Controls
•
Oversee the preparation and monitoring of budgets.
•
Manage cash flows and develop reliable cash flow projection processes.
•
Report monthly to the CEO on budget variances and their causes.
Resource Mobilization / Fundraising
•
Forecast cash flow positions, borrowing needs, and available funds for investment.
•
Establish and manage partnerships with banking and other financing partners.
•
Ensure sufficient funds are available for operational and capital investment needs.
Other Finance Functions
•
Perform other functions as directed by the CFO/MD.
What We Are Looking For
Experience
•
Proven experience in manufacturing companies.
•
Minimum of 5 years as a Finance Manager.
•
Experience in financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
•
Team management experience.
•
Hands-on ERP systems experience (Odoo ERP experience is ideal).
•
Experience in cash management, risk management, auditing, and taxation.
•
Experience in financial strategy and executing financial strategic initiatives.
Knowledge/Understanding
•
Good understanding of GAAP and IFRS.
•
Knowledge of managing accounting records.
•
Knowledge of accounts/finance processes and procedures.
•
Good knowledge of corporate finance and budgeting.

Educational Qualification
