Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY

The current study will use clinical, ecological momentary assessments (EMA), and neuroimaging techniques to probe both behavioral and neurofunctional sex differences concerning alcohol use behaviors and reward-related neurocircuitry in underrepresented groups in one study. This cross-sectional study will assess the sex-dependent moderating role of reward-related reactivity and functional connectivity on the co-variation between PTSD symptoms and alcohol use behaviors. Research Assistant/Staff will be working on an NIH/NIAAA-funded grant called the “SHARE” study, where his responsibilities will include

Responsibilities include

  • Recruiting and running participants through study protocols
  • Monitoring and managing collected data
  • Assisting with IRB submissions and maintenance
  • Coordinating participant compensation
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining relationships with community partners
  • Support study community outreach efforts
  • Supervising undergraduate research assistants

Duties

  • Collects, processes, and assists in the compilation and verification of research data, samples, and/or specimens, following strict protocol and detailed instructions.
  • Performs or assists with routine data verification and quality control, ensuring data integrity and consistency with prescribed study protocol.
  • Performs or assists with the execution of routine research protocol, such as interviewing, testing, and/or scientific procedures.
  • Performs and/or assists with routine data analysis and interpretation, as specifically assigned, may utilize specialized analytical equipment and/or instrumentation or specified statistical data analysis programs and software.
  • Assists in the setup, operation, and maintenance of research equipment, instrumentation, and/or facilities, as specifically instructed.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  • May lead, train, guide, and/or allocate work to student employees, research assistants, and/or other research support personnel on specific aspects of research procedure, as appropriate to the role.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities which may include practicum.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Psychology Major
  • Previous experience working in a psychology research lab
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills preferred
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
