Reporting to the Network Operations Manager you will serve as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems.
We will need you to
Recommend the re-design and configuration of operating systems and system applications.
Investigate and analyze the feasibility of system requirements. Develop system specifications.
What we need
We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer that, ideally, has 5 years of experience deploying, configuring, monitoring, and supporting distributed infrastructure systems, and has an understanding of security, reliability, scalability, and platform management in a real-time (always on) customer production deployment.
Skills required
•
5 years of experience
•
Expert knowledge of Linux, Windows, and VMware infrastructure.
•
DNS - how email propagates to the internet, SSL
•
They provide internet to the clients
•
Client Servicing - providing technical support to the clients
•
Handle technical escalations from within the Systems Practice. - L3 - Architecture, handled l1
•
Provide technical assistance and guidance through to resolution.
•
Networking, IP, subnets, and firewalls (IPv4 and v6).
•
Hosting platforms.
•
Mail environments (cPanel).
•
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to persevere and look for alternative solutions to problems.
•
Ability to understand complex technical environments, comprising multiple servers and dependencies spread across a nationwide network.
- Excellent documentation writing skills, with the ability to clearly and simply articulate complex ideas and solutions. •
Understand technologies including hosting and email.
•
Able to document and communicate processes from both a technical and non-technical perspective.
•
Administer our Co-Location facility in Upper Hutt DC including UPS system.
•
Monitoring/reporting systems including, but not limited to, Nagios and Cacti.
•
DNS management including hosting and delegation.
•
VM backup software.
